NGC re-airing Vladimir Putin documentary

In light of current events in Russia, National Geographic Channel (NGC) has decided to re-air a two-hour documentary special called Russia and The West: Putin Takes Control on March 12. The program originally aired in 2012, just prior to Vladimir Putin reclaiming control of the Russian presidency for his second tenure. Last year, MSNBC aired a successful documentary special about the Iraq War called Hubris: Selling the Iraq War, hosted by Rachel Maddow and based on the book by Michael Isikoff and David Corn. On Monday, Feb. 24, MSNBC will launch its new daytime programming schedule. Included among the programming are the additions of Ronan Farrow and Joy Reid as hosts of their own programs. At 1pm ET, Ronan Farrow (pictured) will host Ronan Farrow Daily, which, according to MSNBC, is a “next generation news show” featuring Farrow’s take on the stories and issues of the day. FOX Business Network (FBN) will launch its new business day programming lineup on Monday, Feb. 24, headlined by the debut of Maria Bartiromo’s new, two-hour program, Opening Bell with Maria Bartiromo. Bartiromo (pictured), a reporter formerly with CNN and CNBC, joined FBN and FOX News Channel (FNC) last year, and serves as anchor for Opening Bell, which will air weekdays from 9-11am ET. At the Television Critics Association’s Winter Press Tour FOX chairman of entertainment Kevin Reilly took the stage and announced that he’s finally doing it — he’s killing off pilot season.
