Lifetime airs “The Bodyguard” tonight to honor Whitney Houston

To honor the late Whitney Houston, who died Saturday at the age of 48, Lifetime will present her major motion picture The Bodyguard, costarring Kevin Costner, on Monday, Feb. 13, at 8pm ET/PT. In the 1992 romance, a former secret service agent (Costner) is assigned to serve as security for a superstar singer turned actress (Houston) and the duo develop a bond of trust and love that neither expected. The film received Academy® and Grammy® Award nominations for its songs “I Have Nothing” and “Run to You,” both performed by Houston.

Queen of pop Whitney Houston dies at 48

Pop music icon and celebrated actress Whitney Houston has passed away at the age of 48, just one day ahead of the 2012 Grammy Awards. Publicist Kristen Foster confirmed the singer’s death, but the cause has not yet been released. Houston was found dead in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Houston’s 1985 debut album, Whitney Houston, won a Grammy Award and netted three No. 1 singles – “Saving All My Love for You”, “How Will I Know” and “Greatest Love of All”.
