Wednesday Means Crap TV For Me

Well, great. I just get in the groove of watching America’s Next Top Model and blogging about it on Wednesdays when I get handed down the assignment of also blogging about Project Runway. Great. Guess who’s not getting anything done around the house on Wednesday nights. Glad I’ve got yoga so I can at least get centered before the backstabbing begins. Project Runway premieres tonight, people. Bravo has a ‘preview’ up on their site. They’ve also got videos of all of our lucky victims, I mean, contestants. I dare you to watch them all & count the Madonna references. The […]

The Amazing Race: I’ve Become The Archie Bunker Of The Home

In the second episode, the racers start off in Galway with brother and sister team Azaria & Hendekea leaving first. And they are off to the Shannon airport to fly to Amsterdam with $59 for this leg of the race. Bex: I have always wondered how the producers have calculated how much money the teams will need for each leg. I hope they have factored in a quick trip to the coffee shops. After all, these lucky stiffs are going to Amsterdam! The race is already starting to take its toll as Shana (or was it Jennifer?) points out “The […]

Survivor: China: Week 8 Recap: Farewell, Susan Lucci

I think the overall theme of this episode is meant to be “Jean-Robert is stupid,” but some other stuff happens, too. When captains pick teams of four for the reward challenge, the picking follows Zhan Hu/Fei Long lines, except Denise is the odd woman out, making her feel like the big, fat kid that no one wants on their team in gym class. I know, someone had to be left out, but it wasn’t a very smart move for the other members of Fei Long to send Denise the message that she’s toward the bottom of the totem pole. The […]

ANTM: The Girls Who Crawl Recap

I’ve decided that nothing makes the America’s Next Top Model viewing experience better than a big tray of nachos. Especially an episode where weight, Sarah’s weight or lack thereof is a major discussion thread. You begin to say to yourself “Yeah, she should weigh more to be a plus-sized model.” Crunch, crunch, crunch — see, it works. So we begin this episode rehashing the last, of course. The girls are still in shock over Ebony’s voluntary departure. She didn’t even have to cut her hair off & she still wanted out. This conversation detailing Ebony’s misgivings about the competition segues […]

Warning: Dancing With The Stars May Be Hazardous To Your — And Your Parents’ — Health

Yikes! If you ever a) get famous, b) get slightly less famous and c) are then recruited for Dancing With The Stars, you may want to ask your mom and dad first. Especially if you are several decades past the point of having to ask your mom and dad first. See, first Jane Seymour’s DWTS-loving mom passed away the day after a performance show. Then Jane herself came down with a raging case of food poisoning. Theeeeen Marie Osmond passed out cold during a performance show. (Then Sabrina Bryan got eliminated, which seems to have struck everyone on Earth but […]

The Amazing Race: Donkeys Have Souls, Too

Bex: Our favorite show has started again, Michelle. Luckily, instead of wasting countless hours at work hanging out in each other’s cubes discussing the ins and outs of the race, we get to blog about it! So let’s meet the racers. There are your blood relatives: the sisters (Marianna & Julia), the brother/sister (Azaria & Hendekea), the father/daughter (Ronald & Christina), the grandfather/grandson (Nicholas & Donald). Bex: They all seemed sweet enough to me at this point, but none really stand out. But I do wonder how long it will be before Grandpa (who according to his grandson, swears and […]

Dog The Bounty Hunter: The Dog Gets Muzzled.

I’m about the biggest fan of Dog The Bounty Hunter, ever. Well I was, anyway. I mean, I still love the show and what now appears to be the character Duane Chapman played when the cameras were rolling. But the man, himself? I’m not sure what to think. For Dog’s detractors, it seems pretty simple: the man is a red-neck, grammar-be-damned, dictatorial racist. Period. Maybe you have it in you to feel for him a little that it was his own son who sold a private conversation for personal gain. Possibly for love. Possibly because he was denied a spot […]

Survivor: China: Week 7 Recap: Put Not Your Faith in False Idols

If I were to make up awards to hand out for this episode, I’d present the following: Miss Uncongeniality: Courtney telling the camera, “I don’t feel like I really need to be anyone’s friend in this game. I dislike everyone else more than I dislike Todd and Amanda — I think they mistook that for friendship.” (She gets extra points for unnecessary use of air quotes while talking.) Miss Re-Congeniality: Courtney cuddling with Frosti — another thing that calls into question her loyalties with the Fei Long tribe. Most Important Discovery: James finding the immunity idol at the Zhan Hu […]

Survivor: China: Week 6 Recap: Perfect Plan … Genius Idea … Smashed.

This episode had: Schemes! Thwarted schemes! Nudity! Product placement! Snarky quotes! Brutal honesty! The eating and spitting up of gross food! Even a commercial showing an animated bear getting scraps of toilet paper (Charmin Ultra Strong toilet paper — as used by the Survivors!) vacuumed off his butt! Behold — reality TV at its finest: * Todd tells Amanda that there’s a hidden immunity idol, and that he knows three clues as to its location. * The Fei Long tribe wins the reward challenge and kidnaps former tribemate James. On the reward (which takes place at the Charmin TeaHouse. This […]
