Posted by Cubicle QB I’ve long resisted doing another Erin Andrews related post just to boost traffic and perpetuate an already very exhausted Interweb phenomenon (look guys, bare calves!). But today there is actual relevant Erin Andrews news involving the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Via Deadspin and The Futon Critic comes the news that Andrews will be joining ESPN and ABC’s coverage of the bee as a correspondent. Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron is also added as a host. Out are last year’s hosts Mike & Mike and reporter Stu Scott — we will miss ripping on them.

Posted by Cubicle QB ESPN’s E:60 made the news this week after correspondent Tom Farrey confronted the Houston Astros’ Miguel Tejada with a birth certificate revealing that Tejada is actually two years older than what the MLB media guides indicate his age to be. Tejada admitted his true age after the interview was leaked. So is this legitimate journalism or a really bad “gotcha” exposé to generate hype and drive ratings? Maybe a little of both. Despite coach Trent Johnson getting ejected for two technical fouls, #3 Stanford rallied to beat #6 Marquette in OT. My alma mater, #3 Wisconsin, advances to the Sweet 16 after a convincing beatdown on #11 Kansas State. #1 Kansas made easy work of #8 UNLV, and #3 Xavier took out #6 Purdue. Thanks to a commanding second half, #7 West Virginia knocked out #2 Duke, and there is much rejoicing. My only regret about Duke losing is that it didn’t happen two days ago. (Yeah, it’s […]

Welcome to our NCAA Tournament blog, also called “The Legend of Lance Hardwood.” Lance Hardwood is my office pool bracket name. Lance Hardwood might be nothing more than a legend soon, though, as he’s tied for last with 12 of the 16 games picked correctly. Here in Wisconsin, there is surprise, sadness and perhaps a little relief that we finally have the answer to the “Is Brett Favre retiring?” thing we’ve been dealing with around this time for the past five or so years.
