Paterno author Joe Posnanski talks with Bob Costas on NBC Sports Network’s Costas Tonight on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 9pm ET. Posnanski had access to former Penn State football head coach Joe Paterno for months before the child sex abuse scandal broke. Costas Tonight will also feature Costas’ Nov. 14, 2011, interview with Jerry Sandusky which aired on NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams (excerpt below). The interview will air in its entirety, including never-before-seen footage.

“GMA” co-anchor Robin Roberts to begin medical leave Sept. 3

This morning on ABC’s Good Morning America, co-anchor Robin Roberts announced that this Friday, Aug. 31, will be her last day on air before she starts an extended medical leave. In June, five years after a fight with breast cancer, Roberts announced that she has been diagnosed with MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome), and that her sister, Sally-Ann, is an almost exactly perfect match for the bone marrow that will be used in a transplant. ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” will take on Leno and Letterman directly starting in January

In what it is calling a “strategic shift in late-night strategy,” ABC announced today that starting Tuesday, Jan. 8, Jimmy Kimmel Live will be moving to the 11:35pm time slot, where it will go head-to-head with The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and Late Show With David Letterman. Kimmel’s program is the only late-night broadcast talk show to increase in Total Viewers this past season, growing 3 percent over the prior season to generate its most-watched season in five years.
