TCA Panel “The Whispers”: Kids Say the Darndest (and the Freakiest) Things

Wednesday’s TCA panel for ABC’s thriller The Whispers confirms what I’ve suspected all along: Imaginary friends are creepy. In The Whispers, someone — or something — is manipulating our most innocent and beloved asset — our children — to commit the unthinkable.  When several D.C.-area children start communicating with an imaginary friend named Drill and the mysterious games he convinces them to play turn dangerous, FBI child specialist Claire Bennigan (Lily Rabe) is called in to investigate. On the other side of the world, Defense Department operative Wes Lawrence (Barry Sloane) unearths a haunting and otherworldly geological phenomenon that may answer the question: What is happening to […]

Ben Stiller was on hand at the Television Critics Association press tour on Saturday to present two upcoming Comedy Central series executive produced by his Red Hour production company. Another Period, which debuts this summer, is a sort of Downton Abbey for for people who loathe Downton Abbey — messy, ribald and hilarious, but also surprisingly well researched. Series stars Natasha Leggero and Riki Lindhome, who created the series from a short film with the same premise, spent time in the show’s Newport, R.I., to get a feel for the era and setting in which their turn-of-the-century socialite sisters Lillian and Beatrice Bellacourt lived. “The Late Late Show” host James Corden charms

The 36-year-old Brit James Corden was nothing short of charming (and funny) as he talked to critics about his new CBS venture — The  Late Late Show With James Corden, which begins March 23 on CBS. Corden took the stage at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in Pasadena in January and said he had no true blueprint for what the show will be yet, however, he’d “love to make a warm show that’s really funny.” Shouldn’t be a problem. Corden was humble in acknowledging the incredible opportunity he’s been presented with, and admitted that we was already feeling […]
