8 Questions With … Elizabeth Berkley

What has been your strangest fan experience? Elizabeth Berkley: At the stage door of a Broadway show I was doing, a young fan came up to me and launched into a full scene from Showgirls right there on the street. Choreography and everything. What was even crazier than that is that he was actually amazing! He nailed it. It was rather shocking, but he nailed it! You’re at a magazine rack and can pick up three magazines — what are they? Definitely Time. I love InStyle — it’s so much fun. And probably Vogue. If your television only carried three […]

How I Met Your Mother: “Sandcastles in the Sand” Recap

The Beek is back! But more on that in a minute. This week’s episode begins with the gang admiring Robin’s breasts, which, we find out, have been reinforced with tape, cotton balls and half of a Nerf football because an old friend from Canada is coming to visit. “Ooh, someone you went to DeGrassi with?” asks Barney. No, it’s Robin’s first boyfriend, Simon, (played by, you guessed it, James Van Der Beek of Dawson’s Creek fame) whom she dated for a whole summer (which, in Canada, is basically the last week in July). He smelled liked Drakkar, he could ollie […]

One Tree Hill: The Slippery Slope Continues 14

Posted by: haro1d Well, another One Tree Hill episode down … and the drama continues to unfold. In case you missed it, here’s the OTH rundown for this week: Haley threw caution to the wind and submitted a demo to Peyton’s label. They’re making an album together — and by mixing business with friendship have jeopardized their relationship without knowing it. Nathan is trying to get back on the basketball court, but Quentin — fresh from the doctor’s office after Lucas forced him to go back for a second hand exam — was so unpleasant on the court with him, […]

E:60 Ambushes Miguel Tejada

Posted by Cubicle QB ESPN’s E:60 made the news this week after correspondent Tom Farrey confronted the Houston Astros’ Miguel Tejada with a birth certificate revealing that Tejada is actually two years older than what the MLB media guides indicate his age to be. Tejada admitted his true age after the interview was leaked. So is this legitimate journalism or a really bad “gotcha” exposé to generate hype and drive ratings? Maybe a little of both. Farrey did confront Tejada with a clear inconsistency, but is it even important? The fact that some players from the Caribbean have lied about […]

Tube Talk: Elvis Costello Is Coming To Sundance Channel

Everyone’s favorite bespectacled New Wave icon (sorry, Marshall Crenshaw) is headed to Sundance Channel, where he’ll host the appropriately titled series Spectacle: Elvis Costello With… beginning in December. The 13-week series will feature discussion and performances, and will be executive produced by Elton John, who will also make at least one onscreen appearance. “This is a wonderful opportunity to talk in complete thought about music, movies, art or even vaudeville, then frame it with unique and illustrative performances,” Costello said in a statement.

Getting Lost: “The Shape of Things to Come” Preview

Well, that wasn’t so bad. Lost‘s mini-hiatus comes to a close this week with the premiere of a new episode titled “The Shape of Things to Come. ” If the following preview clip is any indication, that shape is a trapezoid — long known to be the most dangerous and action-packed of all the shapes. Update: A couple of other previews have surfaced. This […]

Step It Up

Posted by Dizzy Miss Lizzy Let me preface this by saying that I cannot dance. I love to dance, but I am really not good. Seinfeld fodder on the dance floor. Downright dangerous on the dance floor. Bravo’s new reality show Step It Up and Dance really puts it all into perspective for me. Step It Up and Dance follows Project Runway‘s patented formula perfectly – the model/actress host, experienced mentor, the guest judge, immunities and a catchy dismissal phrase. However, none of the new SIUAD structural counterparts match the charisma of Heidi Klum and company. Elizabeth Berkley’s face doesn’t […]

We Fire Away With Jonas Armstrong Of “Robin Hood”

When BBC America premieres Season 2 of the hit adventure series Robin Hood, viewers will see a more mature, wiser Robin. They’ll also see a more mature, wiser actor playing him. Jonas Armstrong learned the hard way just how physically and mentally taxing a six-month shoot in Hungary was during filming of Season 1. “I was totally exhausted halfway through the season last year after three months. They gave me four days off in the middle of it because I was just exhausted,” Armstrong says. “I was a nervous wreck as well for a lot of Series 1 because it […]

“Scrubs”: My Manhood

Posted by SH Male breast cancer, lost testicles, sensitive man-hugs and, of course, banana hammocks are all in the mix as the Sacred Heart gang struggles with issues of masculinity. Well, the dudes do. Carla and Elliot simply wonder how men can be so shallow (seemingly forgetting all their own stupid fights). After a dressing-down from Cox over his penchant for snapping his fingers during West Side Story (it’s happened before), and a beat-down from Turk in an old-fashioned bout of Remote Wrestling, J.D. worries he’s not the best male role model for baby Sam. On the bright side, the […]
