Getting Lost: "Eggtown" Review

Posted by Mike and johnnysweeptheleg “You’re more lost than you ever were.” — Benjamin Linus Truer words have never been spoken. Sure, Ben was speaking to Locke when he said it, but it sure as hell felt like he was talking to us. Last night’s episode, “Eggtown,” was undeniably the weakest of the new season … which really only means that it was pretty good, not amazing. Here’s how it went down. johnnysweeptheleg’s Lost In A Moment: Remember back in Season 1, when we were all blown away by the fact that Christian Shepherd’s casket was … dun dun dun […]

Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites, Week 3: A Cirie-bral Player

First things first: I love Cirie. Now on with the recap … The contestants decorate their bodies with war paint for the reward challenge, which involves charging across a lagoon at each other and trying to get five canvas bags into your end zone. It’s kind of like rugby with canvas bags, war paint, exposed flesh being blurred, and unathletic Chet not getting much screen time. If the challenge were just about war paint design, the Fans would’ve won — I’m thinking someone on their tribe has theater experience. Too bad the Fans didn’t have more charging-across-a-lagoon experience, as the […]

Project Runway Reunion Time!

by WindUpDoll Heidi, bangs. Cut them. Can you actually see anything with those bangs? These shows always start off really sweet. The designers are all supportive & happy. Heidi & Tim ask all of the sweet & nice things. Then they bring out the designers who are showing at Fashion Week. So get ready for the bitchy. Speaking of which, Victoria had her own show at Fashion Week as well. Tim congratulates her and she’s got that look of ‘Yeah, I know. I did it on my own. Suck it.’ The finalists are introduced and brought into the group. We […]

Get The Hook, This Is American Idol

by WindUpDoll It’s an American Idol results show, which means you get about 5 pounds of content in a 50 pound bag. There’s Ryan blabbing with the judges and ripping on Simon. And then we get a cheesy ‘package’ to a Daughtry tune. Ryan has to ‘lead’ the applause after it. And then it’s the group number! I love the group number! ‘Cause they usually suck big time. Tonight, the guys are all in matching suits with ’60s-sortof styled hair. Colton looks more ’50s, and rocker David’s hair still looks way crappy. The girls don’t have to match, but it […]

Dexter: Oedipus Dex

The CBS airing of the pilot for Dexter was not as bad as many fans suspected it might be, mostly because in this era of CSI and its countless clones, the grisly details don’t seem so grisly anymore. On the other hand, what do you do with those words we must protect the little tykes from hearing (as if they should be watching shows like Dexter at all)? Frickin’ is a pretty good sub for, well, I won’t say what for, and frankly Debs is a bit more likable when she is not so potty mouthed. But then there is […]

Getting Lost: “Eggtown” Preview

Thursdays are always special, because they’re Lost days. But today is especially special (it’s the most specialist!), because this morning I (Mike) got to talk to the Today show’s Al Roker about Lost. Actually, I talked to him about his upcoming Spike series DEA, which premieres in April, but during the course of the conversation he revealed that he is a Lost fan, too. For the record, he loves Locke, calling him “the glue that holds the show together.” He says he’s getting tired of Ben and doesn’t mind seeing him get pummeled every week by Jack, Sawyer, Danielle or […]

ANTM Moves To The Big Apple

by WindUpDoll We’re up to Cycle 10 of America’s Next Top Model, and this time we’re in New York. I like how ANTM just jumps into it. There’s not a lot of lead-up, we just get right into meeting the girls, and the girls get to meet the ‘Jays.’ They’re going to be attending Top Model prep. They get uniforms! Squeal! I won’t be telling you all of the nitty-gritty details of each potential contestant, as we’ll only be seeing them for about 5 seconds. One girl thinks she’s got an edge because she went to Cornell. Somehow, I don’t […]

The Girls Strike Back On American Idol

by WindUpDoll Let’s get right to it — Kristy Lee Cook decides to forgo ‘Amazing Grace’ again and goes with ‘Rescue Me.’ If she wins Idol, the first thing she’s going to do is buy her horse back. So America, if you want Kristy to have her horse back, get to dialing. She does this weird wide-eye thing to emphasize things. She does a lot of ‘mmmm-mmmms’ which sound appropriate, but it also sounds like she forgot something. Randy calls it rough around the edges. Paula credits her for being sick, but notes that she can’t use it as an […]

10 Items Or Less: Amy Strikes Back

Posted by Ryan The G&G crew is enjoying Internet video of Amy from Super Value Mart getting it on with a district regional manager in the employee break room. Leslie scolds his crew for making fun of people, but the video of his high-school (and current) crush in action proves too much for him to resist. Amy is distraught over being fired. Apparently she signed a morality clause, and having sex with her boss in the break room and having it broadcast to millions somehow violates that clause. Amy realizes that Leslie is her only friend. Suddenly, an assistant manager […]

One Tree Hill: The Slippery Slope Continues 7

Posted by: haro1d Another storied night on “Peyton Place” — I mean, “One Tree Hill.” We got to see Lucas’ proposal to Lindsey. Haley flipped out over Peyton’s attachment to Lucas and spent a little too much time at the recording studio. Nanny Carrie got called “mama” by little James for the first time not in a dream sequence; Nanny Carrie smooched her boss and he STILL didn’t fire her. Mouth’s boss got fired for sleeping with pretty much the entire staff, resulting in his not only getting to keep his job but getting promoted to on-camera work. Oh, he […]
