A Few Newcomers Catch Our Eye, While Old Favorites Get Back In The Groove

ALL TIMES EASTERN It doesn’t get quite the hype of the fall premieres, but some heavy hitters save their debuts for midseason. Perennials like Law & Order bow alongside promising hopefuls such as Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Here’s a guide to some of what you can expect to see on broadcast networks in the coming weeks and months. NEW THIS SEASON Cashmere Mafia ABC, Jan. 6, then Wednesdays beginning Jan. 9 What’s It All About? Four ambitious, sexy women who have been best friends since business school — Mia, Zoe, Juliet and Caitlin — try to have it all. […]

One Tree Hill: The Slippery Slope Continues 2

Posted by: haro1d For what my wife calls a filler episode, a lot of cute little things happened on this week’s episode: Peyton set up shop for her new record label and signed her first band. Lucas and Skills made the Ravens run laps until they decided to get their free throws down. Lindsay handed out lucky bamboo plants to all of Lucas’ ex-girlfriends. Mouth got fired and then got laid. Haley had a bad day, Brooke impulse-bought a house on the water — oh, and her mom finally showed up after all of these seasons away — and Nathan […]

“The Wire”: Unconfirmed Reports

Posted by SH Oh no he di’int! Was that our good and faithful Detective Jimmy McNulty rearranging a murder scene to make it look like a serial killer is on the loose in Baltimore? Well, what else can you do when city hall just won’t cough up enough cash to let the police do their job? As Freamon says, if it were 300 white people who were killed every year in the city, the National Guard would be deployed immediately. Don’t count on public outcry to help, either, because apparently the problems in Bodymore pale compared with a blonde girl […]

“Ghost Hunters” Take On The World

SCI FI Channel‘s Ghost Hunters International debuted Wednesday night as the network’s No. 1 reality telecast in its history, and bested its broadcast time slot competition, including the dreadful, and dreadfully popular, Gossip Girl. The episode found a new team of Ghost Hunters — lead investigators Robb Demarest and Andy Andrews; Brian Harnois, Donna La Croix, Barry Fitzgerald (whom you may recall from the original Ghost Hunters’ frightening exploration of some Irish ruins) and newcomer Shannon Sylvia — traveling to England’s Chillingham Castle and Scotland’s Mary King’s Close to see what kind of spirits Europe can throw at us. As […]

My Name Is Earl: Bad Earl

Nothing stirs up the spirit of the Yule like watching a Christmas-related episode two weeks after Christmas. “Bad Earl” was originally scheduled for Dec. 13, but NBC pushed it way back, probably thinking it was best to not burn a new episode when the ratings probably weren’t going to be good. Earl is out of prison (prison’s not quite out of him), but he’s finding it hard to celebrate during his release party at the Crab Shack. He has his list back, but he’s doubting the existence of karma. All of his good deeds have brought him nothing but misfortune. […]

The Peebles Choice

Posted By RabbitEars A quick note for you All My Children fans: ABC has announced that Mario Van Peebles (our second favorite Mario, after Lopez) will be joining the daytime drama’s cast starting January 29. The award-winning director, writer and actor brings more talent and credentials than are often seen on a soap, and will play Samuel Woods, a U.S. District Attorney who is running for the Senate. Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) takes special notice of Woods, primarily as a guest on her talk show. But he will soon become a nightmare — albeit one with romantic possibilities. Luckily for […]

OMG! I Think Project Runway Just Asked Me To The Prom! Squeal!

Again, the models of Project Runway have the week off. How crappy it must be to get ‘eliminated’ for a week when you didn’t actually do anything. Heidi does her usual “Good morning, designers” spiel and instead of the usual models coming onto the runway, a group of gawky teenagers in uniforms come trudging out. Heidi explains that the designers will be working with these teenagers to create their prom dresses. Christian is justifiably horrified at the idea. The other twist for this week is that the girls have gone through the designers’ portfolios and have selected who they will […]

Animal Planet Of The Apes

Animal Planet is going ape once again, with a new show on the heels of its successful, cute and educational series Orangutan Island. (By the way, have you checked out the fun site that lets you find out which orang from the show you are most like? To give you some hint about myself, my results find that I am most like Donald, the loyal, easy-going, slightly co-dependent one. Wait, don’t leave me all alone on this post just yet!) On February 8, the network debuts Escape to Chimp Eden at 9:30pm ET (it will then air at 9pm ET […]

Do You Like “Gladiator” Shows?

Well, if ya do, you’re not the only one! NBC’s revived American Gladiators premiered Sunday with this season’s highest adult 18-49 rating for any new series premiere, and was the Peacock’s top new series debut since Heroes back in 2006, and led the network to its highest non-sports rating during the Sunday 9-11pm ET time period in three years. “We’re extremely excited by the response to American Gladiators,” said John Wallace, president of NBC Local Media Division, in perhaps an understatement. The reason the Local Media president is now excited about the show too is that NBC plans to pummel […]

Soap Serenade

Anthony Geary makes his recording debut! If you’ve been waiting to hear those words, an ABC announcement this week has just made your dreams come true. Perhaps trying to follow in the fine tradition of Rick Springfield and Jack Wagner, several stars of General Hospital and the other ABC soaps, One Life to Live and All My Children, are part of a CD to be released January 29 called Love Affair. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, it’s a collection of love songs. Will any of these stars be the next Springfield or Wagner? Do we want them to be? […]
