Dexter Gets HOT As Harry’s Tangled Web Unweaves

For a man who claims that he does not understand sex, our hero gets plenty of it in Episode 6 — aptly titled “Dex, Lies and Videotape.” Dex has been lying to Rita, having not told her that he took a road trip with his sexy sponsor. He’s been lying to Lila, not telling her what he is really addicted to. AND, he’s apparently been deluding himself by believing that the voyage into the darkness of his soul would not affect his facade.

At 90, Ernest Borgnine Is Still Going Strong

By Charles Meadows He boasts one of the longest resumes in Hollywood, and well he should — at 90 years old, Ernest Borgnine hasn’t tired of working and this month adds another title to the list. In Hallmark Channel‘s A Grandpa for Christmas (premiering Nov. 24), the Academy Award winner plays Bert, an octogenarian who takes in the 9-year-old granddaughter he’s never met when her mother — from whom Bert has been estranged — is injured in a car accident. And just like a doting grandfather would, Borgnine has nothing but praise for his young costar, Juliette Goglia, who shines […]

Dog The Bounty Hunter: The Dog Gets Muzzled.

I’m about the biggest fan of Dog The Bounty Hunter, ever. Well I was, anyway. I mean, I still love the show and what now appears to be the character Duane Chapman played when the cameras were rolling. But the man, himself? I’m not sure what to think. For Dog’s detractors, it seems pretty simple: the man is a red-neck, grammar-be-damned, dictatorial racist. Period. Maybe you have it in you to feel for him a little that it was his own son who sold a private conversation for personal gain. Possibly for love. Possibly because he was denied a spot […]

Stewie Finally Kills Lois: The "Family Guy" 100th Episode And Special

Posted by Sarah We finally made it to the 100th episode, and such an occasion deserves … a recap special! Hosted by Seth MacFarlane, the half-hour special looked back at some of his favorite Family Guy moments and heard from regular people just how horrible his show really is, but the best parts were his comments in between segments: “We celebrate 100 episodes of doing just enough to get by.” “We look back at the show that turned me from a poor, Vietnamese immigrant into a Caucasian millionaire.” “Dharma and Greg … what an awful awful show.” “[He laughs] I […]

“Scrubs”: My Hard Labor

Posted by SH Following a so-so debut, Season 7 suddenly shows much more promise after putting to rest any fears that the show would end its run with a wacky episode detailing the birth of J.D.’s baby. In my worst nightmares, I could see Robin Williams guest-starring as that zany OB he played in “Nine Months.” Or, even more horrifying, as Patch Adams. But evidently, that’s not what the producers had in mind. The theme song hasn’t even kicked in when J.D. gets the call that Kim has gone into labor. This prompts him to guilt Turk and Carla into […]

“The Office” Recap: Branch Wars

Karen Filipelli is back. And she’s the regional manager of Dunder Mifflin Utica. And she’s offered Stanley more money to leave Scranton and transfer to her branch. Once Michael finishes fiddling with his Ferris Bueller-inspired dummy of himself long enough to grasp the situation, he decides that he can’t afford to lose Stanley. He wouldn’t mind losing Toby, though, and he calls Karen to suggest she take him instead — despite the fact that Toby’s not a salesman and that Michael admits that he thinks “Toby is the worst.” At least two people would miss Toby if he were gone: […]

“My Name Is Earl”: Our Other COPS Is On

“Our Other COPS Is On” opens with the prison inmates watching TV until their time is up and Randy has to turn the TV off. But the inmates stole the knob off the TV, so it stays on. Turns out that COPS is on. And it happens to be the other episode of COPS that was filmed in Camden County on July 4, 2002, the first July 4 after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. There’s lots of jingoism and paranoia at the celebration on the fairgrounds. The Camden County cops were shipped a bunch of anti-terrorist equipment by mistake and […]

Survivor: China: Week 7 Recap: Put Not Your Faith in False Idols

If I were to make up awards to hand out for this episode, I’d present the following: Miss Uncongeniality: Courtney telling the camera, “I don’t feel like I really need to be anyone’s friend in this game. I dislike everyone else more than I dislike Todd and Amanda — I think they mistook that for friendship.” (She gets extra points for unnecessary use of air quotes while talking.) Miss Re-Congeniality: Courtney cuddling with Frosti — another thing that calls into question her loyalties with the Fei Long tribe. Most Important Discovery: James finding the immunity idol at the Zhan Hu […]
