You, Me and the Apocalypse
Comedy

The end is now: NBC’s darkly funny “You, Me and the Apocalypse”

The new hourlong comedy/drama You, Me and the Apocalypse (NBC Thursdays at 8pm ET/PT beginning Jan. 28), a British import, is the darkly comic look at a number of complex characters in a complex situation — a comet is going to collide with Earth in 34 days and end life as we know it. For some of the characters, that’s about the best thing that could happen. The series opens at Day 0, with Jamie (Mathew Baynton) deep in a fortified bunker beneath the suburbs of Slough in England. He’s among 15 people in the bunker who represent the future of humanity, for […]

No Donald Trump in tonight’s Fox News GOP debate, but you can still watch him this evening if that’s your thing

In case you missed it, frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination Donald Trump has pulled out of the latest GOP debate, airing tonight on Fox News Channel (FNC) live beginning at 9pm ET. Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly and Chris Wallace will moderate what will be the final Republican presidential primary debate before next week’s Iowa caucus. The debate, held at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, will also be presented live on FOX News Radio, FOX News Mobile and FOXNews.com. Megyn Kelly’s appearance at the debate seems to have spurred Trump’s refusal to participate, and this stems way back […]

#ACSFX: Courtney B. Vance recalls O.J. Simpson case, meeting Johnnie Cochran

If you’re of a certain age, you’ll likely remember where you were the evening of June 17, 1994. Perhaps you’d settled in for a Friday night of watching TV when regularly scheduled programming was interrupted by aerial footage of a white Ford Bronco pursued at low speed by several police squads through an empty Interstate 405 in Los Angeles. In the back of the vehicle was football legend O.J. Simpson, charged with the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. You probably also remember where you were on Oct. 3, 1995, when the not-guilty verdict […]

Interview: Jo Frost Gets Mobile In “Jo Frost: Nanny On Tour”

Parenting expert Jo Frost returns to TV on Jan. 28 in UPtv’s  Jo Frost: Nanny on Tour. Each week, Frost takes her mobile office — a decked-out RV — into a community where she can meet with and offer advice to more people than ever before. She also does an in-home consultation with a family who desperately needs intensive help. The British former nanny has been a staple of American television for over a decade, so she and I chatted about the new direction of her show, the challenges facing today’s families, and Frost offers a bit of advice to you (Which […]

Madoff on ABC: For Richard Dreyfuss, playing the disgraced financier is personal

The two night miniseries Madoff premieres Wednesday, Feb. 3 and Thursday, Feb. 4 on ABC. • Missed Madoff Part 1? Find out how to watch it online here.  In the early 2000s, Richard Dreyfuss had an epiphany. Disheartened by the scarcity of the meaningful, character-driven films he preferred to make, and appalled by the civil and political landscape in which his teenage sons were growing up, Dreyfuss decided to scrap acting and head for England’s University of Oxford to learn how to resurrect the vanishing civics curriculum in U.S. schools. “To me this was such an easy call,” says the Oscar, […]

Welcome To A Televised Trainwreck “Little Women: Atlanta” Recap, Episode 1

Get the latest from Little Women: Atlanta — Episode 2, “Juicy Gossip” Tonight, Lifetime premiered a big night filled with little ladies. First, Little Women: LA started its fourth season with a bang, or rather a brawl, that ended with drinks being thrown. Then, The Little Women franchise spread to the Dirty South in Little Women: Atlanta. I thought I’d give the new series a gander and meet the new ladies. Since I’m watching this real-time, I have only the images from Lifetime’s press site, but will try to add more pictures as they become available. This series is wasting no time […]

Face Off Season 10 episode 3 recap: Lost Languages

Moving right along to the Face Off Season 10 episode 3 recap. In this episode we’re dealing with lost languages and what the speakers of those languages might have looked like. We’re introduced to David Peterson, a professional language creator. How cool is that job title? David has created languages for the Face Off artists. Again, they will be working in pairs (which they get to choose themselves this time). Each team has to go into a ‘shrine’ to pick an artifact which represents an ancient tribe. That artifact corresponds with a language sketch. This week’s pairs: Njoroge & Ant […]

“Little Women: Atlanta” Gets Big In The Dirty South

Tonight after the drink-throwing, Season 4 premiere of Little Women: LA, Lifetime premieres another spirited spinoff of its Little Women franchise when it introduces the lovely ladies of Little Women: Atlanta. These new sassy lassies turn heads wherever they go, especially with club promoter Emily Fernandez leading the charge with identical twins, Andrea and Amanda Salinas, Bri Barlup, Ashley “Minnie” Ross and Tiffany “Monie” Cashette turning heads with their petite statures and big personalities. These beauties may be the most dramatic Little Women yet — catfights, power struggles and drama are part of almost every get-together. But they have each other’s backs too […]

Sarah Rafferty says “a crazy cliffhanger” will end Suits Season 5

Recently, at the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour, I had a chance to sit down and talk with Sarah Rafferty, who plays Donna Paulsen on USA Network’s hit drama Suits, which returns for its Season 5 winter premiere tonight (Jan. 27). As the remaining six episodes of Suits Season 5 kick off with the episode called “Blowback,” Mike (Patrick J. Adams) — following his arrest for conspiracy to commit fraud — finds himself at the center of an investigation led by a ruthless government prosecutor, Assistant U.S. Attorney Anita Gibbs (new recurring guest star Leslie Hope), that threatens to bring down the […]
