5 Questions With … Emmy Rossum of “Shameless”

Showtime’s Shameless is currently airing its sixth season, and the Gallagher clan is as messed up as ever. At the end of Season 5, Emmy Rossum’s character, Fiona, was a newlywed — and newly dumped — who had confessed her unrequited love to her boss. In addition to those issues, she has to contend with the exploits of her deadbeat dad, Frank (played by William H. Macy). Rossum revealed that she stores up a lot of emotion before her character unleashes one of her signature tirades against Frank, saying, “I feel like I save up everything that happens in my […]

Patrick Warburton on The Tick revival: “I have to do it soon”

I talked with Patrick Warburton today at the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour about his new NBC sitcom Crowded (more on that in a later post), and had a chance to also talk about his other memorable comedic work, from David Puddy on Seinfeld to Joe Swanson on Family Guy to Brock Samson on The Venture Bros. (Season 6 of The Venture Bros. premieres Jan. 31 on Adult Swim). But Warburton said that while all of those certainly have their fan bases, it is his short-lived 2001 FOX sitcom The Tick that “has this grand cult following.” Our interview was at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena, and Warburton said […]

#TCA16: Stop asking NBC about Donald Trump already!

The days of NBC executives having to answer questions about its association with Bill Cosby are over. The days of NBC having to respond to inquiries about its relationship with Donald Trump have arrived. NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, President Jennifer Salke and alternative and late-night programming president Paul Telegdy defended the network dropping Trump from The Apprentice and severing ties with Trump’s pageant specials and then signing Trump to host Saturday Night Live in November. NBC execs admitted they didn’t expect Trump’s presidential candidacy to have legs, and that Trump’s brief screen time on SNL is dwarfed by the […]

John Wesley Shipp can feel his career coming full circle in many ways thanks in large part to the popularity of The Flash. Before there was a hit CW show, the veteran actor played the title role of the speedy crime-fighter in the short-lived 1990s series on CBS.
