Recap: Blindspot Season 1, Episode 7 – Road Trip!

This episode was another tease. Sure, we finally got a peek at Saúl Guerrero (it’s Lou Diamond Phillips!) and the FBI team moved out beyond the big city. However, the episode ended with so many unanswered questions. Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) was about to get the goods on Daylight, there was no mention of Taylor Shaw or Zapata’s (Audrey Esparza) gambling issues, and Patterson (Ashley Johnson) can’t seem to keep a good man pinned down — why exactly? I guess it’s the mystery that keeps us coming back for more. So are you ready to decipher this week’s episode of Blindspot? […]

Jane the Virgin Chapter 26 recap: He’s the One

Jane and her bestie for life Lina have started to drift apart ever since Jane had Mateo. Now that Mateo runs Jane’s life, Jane can’t remember things like Lina’s birthday party, which  she promised to plan. Looks like this week’s episode of Jane the Virgin will show you how to keep your friends after having a baby. Jane still hasn’t told Rafael how she really feels ever since they kissed. When he texted her that he wanted to kiss her again “very badly,” she could only think of sending a wide-smiling emoji. I doubt that sent any clear message to […]

Supergirl Season 1 Episode 2 Recap: Stronger Together

In this week’s episode of Supergirl on CBS, Kara (Melissa Benoist) quickly learns that having super powers and being a super hero are two different things. We pick up a week after she revealed herself to National City as Supergirl and she tells us it’s going pretty well. Hank Henshaw (David Harewood) isn’t impressed. He says there are very rigorous requirements to be a field operative for the DEO and right now Kara’s airborne mph isn’t meeting them. She wonders if he’s being so fussy because she’s a … woman? …. nope. An alien. Kara finds herself in a situation those who have extremely […]

Recap: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Episode 4 – I’m Going on a Date With Josh’s Friend!

Recap: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Episode 4: “I’m Going on a Date With Josh’s Friend!” The CW, original airdate Mon. 11/2/15 (For all Crazy Ex recaps, click here.) In every episode, Rebecca finds an even odder way to try to wedge herself further into Josh’s life; this one is no exception as she and Paula are trying out their skateboarding skills at a skate park (they watched some skating tutorials on YouTube, but I’m not sure where they got the idea for their clothes, because they — especially Paula — look ridiculous). Not only does Josh take his nephew to the skate […]

Esquire’s “Spotless” is dark, irreverent and terrific

Spotless, Esquire Network’s first scripted series, is actually a show that has been acquired from Canal+ in France, where the series first aired earlier this year. So while not technically “original” for the network, it is definitely worth checking out. Co-created by Shameless (the British version) writer Ed McCardie and CSI producer Corinne Marrinan, the series combines elements of those two shows in unique ways, throwing in dark humor in some of the grimmest of situations, usually murders and other crimes. The show also resembles Dexter and Breaking Bad in ways, with some gruesome scenes not for the squeamish, as […]

“Flesh and Bone” on Starz: And you thought “Black Swan” was dark

For all the beauty, grace, skill and artistry of a ballet performance, the dancers themselves are often perceived as hypercompetitive, treacherous, chain-smoking, drug-addled, maladjusted bulimics with gross feet. The new Starz limited drama series Flesh and Bone (Sundays at 8pm ET/PT beginning Nov. 8) probably won’t help change that image. The story centers on Claire (Sarah Hay), a talented dancer who flees a deeply disturbed life in Pittsburgh to join an elite ballet company in New York City. She impresses the director and is chosen as the prima, which draws the ire and envy of her colleagues and the lust and […]

NBC’s Chicago Med joins Chicago Fire and Chicago PD

“The aim here is, every week, if you watch the show, you will get at least one piece of medical information that you probably don’t know,” said producer Dick Wolf at a recent press conference to discuss his new series Chicago Med. The third entry in NBC’s successful Chicago franchise (with Chicago Fire and Chicago PD), the new series will follow Wolf’s formula of “ripped from the headlines”-style drama — mixed in with personal drama, of course. Some of the cast, including Nick Gehlfuss and Oliver Platt, as well as their characters’ trauma center setting, was introduced in an episode […]

5 Questions with Stephen Bishop of BET’s “Being Mary Jane”

The first three episodes of the third season of Being Mary Jane have been jaw-dropping, and Stephen Bishop’s character David has been at the center of it all. When I spoke to the actor before the Season 3 premiere, he’d been sworn to secrecy about much of the the new season, but revealed that his favorite scenes from last season were the ones he shot with Chris Spencer. “He and I have been friends for a long time,” Bishop said,” but we’d never gotten to shoot together. It was fun to see him do drama. He’s such a great standup […]
