Donald Trump to host “SNL” in November

While NBC made it very clear a few months ago that Donald Trump would not be returning to The Apprentice, he apparently has not been cut off from all of the network’s properties. It was announced today that Trump — the real estate magnate who is currently the front-runner for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination — will host Saturday Night Live on Nov. 7. The appearance will mark Trump’s second time hosting the show, with his first being in April 2004 when he was plugging his then-new series The Apprentice. Looking back at some of his monologue from back then, one can see that Trump’s opinion […]

VOD Spotlight: DOPE

DOPE tells the story of Malcolm (Shameik Moore), a high-school senior who lives in a tough Los Angeles neighborhood. He is hoping to go to college — Harvard, no less — though first he has to get through the academic interviews and ace the SATs. As a teenager, writer-director Rick Famuyiwa never imagined that his own experiences growing up in a sketchy Los Angeles-area neighborhood high school would someday be made into a feature film. But that’s exactly what happened with the development of DOPE, which was filmed on location in and around the area in which Famuyiwa grew up: […]

Recap: Fargo Season 2, Episode 1 – Back in Time

After a nail-biting, must-see debut season, Fargo is back on FX. Unlike True Detective, Fargo fans shouldn’t fret about this new installment. Season 2 is looking to be equally as addictive, don’t cha know. The first episode, “Waiting for Dutch,” opens with a snippet of the black-and-white film Massacre at Sioux Falls, starring Ronald Reagan (who should be showing up at some point looking a lot like Bruce Campbell). He’s not in the clip, though. Instead, it’s a conversation between an actor and maybe the director. It doesn’t really matter who they are because the landscape is way more interesting. […]

Jane the Virgin Chapter 23 recap: Jane the Miracle

So, who else is thrilled to welcome Jane the Virgin back for its second season? I could go on and on about how amazing Gina Rodriguez is, but that might get a bit embarrassing. So lets say that winning a Golden Globe for her role as Jane and the show being nominated for another Golden Globe for Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical is proof enough how wonderful this show is. We start off “Chapter Twenty-Three” where we left off last season: Sin Rostro took baby Mateo! When a nurse steps into Jane’s room to let her know she’s ready to take Mateo for his hearing test, Jane tells her that […]

When is the CNN Democratic Debate?

The CNN Democratic Debate, the first debate among the Democratic presidential candidates for the 2016 presidential nomination, will air Tuesday, Oct. 13, beginning at 8:30pm ET on CNN. The debate is taking place in Las Vegas, with Anderson Cooper serving as moderator. Cooper told Reliable Sources recently that he plans to ask “pointed questions” of each contender. “Going into the Republican debates,” Cooper said, “you pretty much knew there were a number of candidates who were willing to [attack each other]. Some lower-level candidates wanted to punch up and try to make a name for themselves. That’s not the case, so far […]
