7 Questions With … Sean Bean of TNT’s Legends

I had a phone number and I was afraid to dial it. That’s how I felt before I interviewed Sean Bean. He’s well known for playing tough and intimidating characters like Ned Stark in Game of Thrones and Boromir in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and even as the bad guys in Patriot Games and GoldenEye, he’s as much known for his intensity as he is for his often spectacular death scenes. So when it came time to call him on the phone to talk about his new TNT series, Legends, I’ll admit I was a wee bit nervous. […]

Nat Geo Wild’s Sharkfest returns to try to take a bite out of Shark Week

Last year, Nat Geo Wild must have looked at Discovery’s Shark Week ratings and decided to join the feeding frenzy among viewers to watch all things “shark,” as the network debuted the similarly themed Sharkfest. In 2014, Sharkfest is back for its second installment on Nat Geo Wild, beginning Aug. 10 (same day as Shark Week). One promising element of Sharkfest versus Shark Week is that, per Nat Geo Wild’s press release, they promise no mockumentaries: “… scare tactics and mockumentaries are best left to others,” the release states (a nice shot at Discovery, which received some flak last year […]

Sean Bean Stars In TNT’s Legends

In TNT’s thrilling new spy drama Legends, premiering Wednesday August 13, Martin Odum knows everything but the truth. He’s the FBI’s best Deep Cover Operations (DCO) agent, and has an uncanny ability to create separate and believable mannerisms, dialects and complex backstories, called legends, for each job. He can transform himself from a vengeful Southern anarchist, to a Serbian extremist, to a corrupt Chicago police officer, and actor Sean Bean, who plays Odum, is impressed by his character’s dedication. “Martin takes it very seriously, down to the details of what he eats, what he drinks, what he wears, women he […]

Comedian Chris Lilley Returns On “Jonah From Tonga”

The character of Jonah Takalua was originally introduced to viewers in Aussie comedian Chris Lilley’s mockumentary series Summer Heights High, where, when we last left him, the inappropriate delinquent was expelled from high school and sent to live with his uncle in aboriginal Tonga in hopes of straightening him out. In Jonah From Tonga, a six-episode comedic follow-up airing on HBO, we fast-forward four months, when cameras document how the troubled teen is adapting. As expected, things aren’t good. “Everything was happy, and it was a peaceful place until Jonah came along,” a cousin begins. “Jonah’s like a @#$%in’ idiot. […]

Outlander episode guide and preview

Imagine your favorite romantic book exquisitely translated into an epic new TV series — that’s Outlander, the Starz original new drama series debuting this month. Here we include an Outlander episode guide and preview for the series fans have been waiting years for. Actually, 26 years ago, Diana Gabaldon, a former research professor who holds three degrees in science, embarked on a unique experiment. She wanted to learn how to write a novel. Her experiment would be a romantic tale, part historical fantasy, part time-travel, even a bit sci fi (a Doctor Who rerun was her initial inspiration). The outcome […]

Raising Asia recap Episode 3: Oh, Mother(s)!

I’m just going to put this out there, fellow Raising Asia curious (it’s far, far too soon to call myself a fan). The real star of this thing is Bella Blu Ray. I would like Bella Blu Ray on Blu Ray and DVD, just so I can repeatedly watch her freak out with happiness about her dad or say “Asia can sing this much” while making a dime-size circle with her hand and just skip the part where everyone else is cranky with each other. But we start out this episode with everyone feeling generous toward each other. Announcing that […]

Raising Asia recap episode 2: Daddy issues

On tonight’s Raising Asia, Shawn continued to struggle with his role in Asia’s career, Asia continued to struggle with the fact that she’s 8 and not 18, and Kristi continued to struggle with pretty much everything, including the fact that her husband is underfoot an awful lot lately and how just much eye makeup is too much eye makeup. With Asia fresh off what her dad calls the “biggest performance of her career” at World of Dance, Papa Ray is ready to stake his claim as the man who is, in fact, raising Asia —despite the part where her manager/coach/overlord […]
