Tony Gonzalez joins “The NFL Today” on CBS

Tony Gonzalez joins The NFL Today on CBS in a major shakeup that has former analysts Dan Marino and Shannon Sharpe now looking for new jobs. With Gonzalez retiring at the end of this past season, there was bound to be a bidding war for the personable and well-spoken future Hall of Famer’s services. Realizing he needed to do all he could to lure the big name to his network, CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus struck quickly. “Having just stepped off the playing field, Tony brings a fresh and insightful perspective,” McManus said in a statement. “We are excited for […]

“Snake Salvation” special to remember Pastor Jamie Coots

This Thursday, Feb. 20, National Geographic Channel (NGC) will air a one-hour special retrospective compilation from its series Snake Salvation, which it says will remember the life of Pastor Jamie Coots. NGC also told me that this will likely be the last episode of Snake Salvation, as they currently do not have plans for any additional episodes. Coots (pictured) was the star of Snake Salvation, a reality series that followed Coots and his Pentecostal congregation who believe that a passage in the Bible suggests that poisonous snakebites will not harm believers who are anointed by God. They incorporate snake-handling into […]

Dance Moms Season 4 episode 8 recap: Come On Over For Whine And Cheese

The Face of the Abby Lee Dance Company has changed, Dance Moms nation. Kelly’s, Paige’s and Brooke’s are officially gone by virtue of an “official letter” from Abby’s new deer-in-the-headlights receptionist (well and also, you know, those pesky lawsuits). Kalani’s and Kira’s are here to stay, even though we’re not technically supposed to know that yet … even though Abby said it on The View a month ago. Life was so much easier when I was willful in my ignorance. Kalani is also the top of the pyramid, I’m guessing by virtue of being the only one whose last name […]

So, about those Dance Moms lawsuits …

Yes, Dance Moms nation, now that we’ve all seen the Dance Moms “Battle in the Bronx” on last Tuesday’s episode, Kelly Hyland has done something official about it. In response to the lawsuit filed by Abby Lee Miller following the pair’s November bitey-slappy-hair-pully altercation in New York, Kelly spent Valentine’s Day filing her own $5 million complaint in L.A. Superior Court, alleging non-payment, unlawful working conditions for the children and a litany of other abuses. Both Abby Lee and the show’s parent company Collins Avenue Entertainment are named as respondents. As first reported by TMZ and subsequently fleshed out by […]

“Welcome to 11:30, bitch!” — Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” era begins

There were a few things during the premiere of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that made it clear this wasn’t necessarily going to be your grandfather’s Tonight Show, or perhaps even your father’s. The “TV14-L” rating in the upper corner, for one, and that came into play at least once with a slang use of the word “bitch” — certainly nothing unusual for most late-night programs, or even primetime shows, but perhaps uncommon during the Tonight Show stints of Johnny Carson and Jay Leno. There was another point where, during a comedy segment, Jimmy Fallon hilariously described Olympic figure […]
