At the Television Critics Association’s Winter Press Tour FOX chairman of entertainment Kevin Reilly took the stage and announced that he’s finally doing it — he’s killing off pilot season. The jumbo screen showcased a graphic of a tombstone that read “RIP Pilot Season” and listed the years 1986 to 2013. “R.I.P. While the ads have been stressing a return to form for American Idol, FOX’s talent-show behemoth will have some changes in store when Season 13 — heretofore known as American Idol XIII — debuts this week. Auditions from Boston and Austin kick things off, with Beantown going first on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 8pm, followed by Austin and San Francisco the next night. Then it’s off to Detroit (Jan. 22), Atlanta (Jan. 23), Salt Lake City (Jan. 29), and Omaha (Jan. 30). After that is when things get crazy. Andy Samberg is on a roll! FOX Broadcasting Company has inked a multi-year deal with the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star and new Golden Globe winner’s The Lonely Island. At the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour FOX announced the premiere date for 24: Live Another Day as Monday, May 5 at 8pm ET/PT. The highly anticipate 12-episode series will kick off with a two-hour start, and then take its regular timeslot of Mondays at 9pm ET/PT the following week.
