The 40th Annual People’s Choice Awards airs at 9pm ET tonight on CBS, with red-carpet coverage streaming at peopleschoice.com at 8pm. And People’s Choice Awards 2014 promises to be a good time. This most populist of awards shows kicks off the new year, but don’t necessarily expect any clues as to future Oscar winners. The “Favorite Movie” finalists include the likes of Despicable Me 2, Fast & Furious 6, Iron Man 3, Monsters University and Star Trek Into Darkness. Funny how Gravity, 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle appear nowhere, right? Not even in the recently added “Favorite Year-End […]

Interview: Jason Beghe of “Chicago Fire” spinoff “Chicago PD”

“From what I understand,” Jason Beghe tells me, “that when the character of Voight was introduced [on Chicago Fire], the ratings had a bump.” Beghe is talking about how his character of police officer Sgt. Hank Voight in Chicago PD (Jan. 8 on NBC), a spinoff from the popular Chicago Fire, came to be the star of another series after beginning as a recurring character on Fire. When fans met Voight on Chicago Fire, he was a man of seeming moral ambiguity, which turned out to be part of his cover. But it may also be part of Voight himself, […]

Stana Katic knows Castle fans have much on their minds as Season 6 returns with a new episode tonight on ABC. Is the 3XK killer really back? What she doesn’t know — the answers to those questions. “I would love to tease this or that, but most of the time, I’m in the dark right along with the viewers!” Katic laughs. Interview: Matthew McConaughey talks HBO’s True Detective

Ask Matthew McConaughey what convinced him to tackle his first ever television series, HBO’s True Detective, and he offers up two things: the sheer power of screenwriter Nic Pizzolatto’s scripts and the chance to start some drama with his longtime pal Woody Harrelson … if only onscreen. “This is the third time we’ve worked together and it’s the first time not in a comedy, which I was really excited about,” says McConaughey. “The thing about Woody and I is that personally we’re such good friends that if he starts something, I end it. If I start something, he ends it. […]
