“What happened to Style network?” will be the question of the evening when Esquire Network officially takes over the the 15-year-old network on Monday, Sept. 23 at 9pm ET with the premiere of Esquire’s 80th. Still in question is whether new episodes of Giuliana & Bill, Jerseylicious, Big Rich Texas and Tia & Tamera will find a home on any of NBCU’s other networks. Some of the shows are expected to simply end their run, while a few will most likely be worked into schedules on E!, Bravo or Oxygen. UPDATE: Style Network TV to relaunch in Fall 2014! See […]

This is for the fans who want to digest a satisfying conclusion to Showtime’s Dexter, which ended its eight-season run on Sunday, Sept. 22. A Sea Change: Dexter Goes Out With Whimper [Spoiler alert] As befits a series of Dexter’s caliber, the cast commented prior to the final episode that it ended as the creators intended all along. Boardwalk Empire recap: “Acres of Diamonds”

Upon his introduction last week in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, Jeffrey Wright’s erudite, scheming and not-a-little-Satan-y Trinidadian Harlem strongman Dr. Narcisse dropped a few sulfurous hints of something ugly and untoward about his racial attitudes. With last night’s episode, we began to see his Machiavellian character and motivation coalesce, even wrapped in the finest suits and Biblical citations. Ep. 39: Inside the Episode After a depraved incident involving his Caucasian wrangler of talent for his entertainment racket, now dead, his wife, now dead, and chief enforcer of newly legit AC nightclub operator Chalky White, Dunn (Eric LaRay Harvey), still alive, Narcisse […]

Emmys 2013 winners, losers: “Breaking Bad,” “Modern Family” win top awards

Two words that best sum up Emmys 2013: “Breaking Sad.” It was three hours filled with tributes to fallen stars, odd reminders of 50-year-old national tragedies and a victory lap for AMC’s much-loved but little-awarded drama Breaking Bad. Neil Patrick Harris acknowledged his propensity for hosting gigs with a cute sketch involving his How I Met Your Mother costars, and decided to insert a mid-show musical number that probably played a lot better in rehearsal. In addition to the much-discussed extended tributes to James Gandolfini, with Edie Falco presenting, Jean Stapleton (Rob Reiner), Jonathan Winters (Robin Williams), Gary David Goldberg […]

Tips from Shark Tank Lori Greiner – the nice “shark”

Interview with Shark Tank Lori Greiner, August 2013. One thing you can definitely expect when Season 5 of Shark Tank premieres Friday, Sept. 20 at 9pm ET on ABC is that familiar friendly smile from superstar “shark” and QVC wonder woman Lori Greiner. Although Greiner’s one of the top experts in the country on patents (she’s got 100-plus patents and growing) and is behind the most successful Shark Tank product to date with that yellow, smiley-faced sponge called the Scrub Daddy, she couldn’t be nicer. When asked if she makes an effort to provide a warmer, welcoming environment to the […]

There’s just one big question on everyone’s mind going into the Emmys 2013: How can it be that this is only Neil Patrick Harris’ second time hosting? Seriously, I mean, doesn’t it seem like the guy has hosted every awards show for the past five years? But, I guess that’s the case, as the How I Met Your Mother funnyman takes a break from fooling around with the Smurfs to usher in TV’s biggest night. (For the record, in addition to his Emmys gig, NPH has hosted the Tonys four times, as well the TV Land Awards and something called […]
