Velocity brings Eurosport coverage to the U.S.

It may be small consolation to those motorsports fans still smarting from the loss of SPEED Channel, but Velocity is doing its part to expand its racing coverage with the introduction of Eurosport on Velocity, a weekly programming block beginning Sept. 28. The block will air Saturdays from 1-3pm ET/PT, with encore presentations on Sunday morning. The Newsroom Season 2 finale recap: Election Night Part 2

If you wanted a bow on HBO’s The Newsroom Season 2, last night’s season finale didn’t disappoint, because Aaron Sorkin solved all the world’s problems and everybody’s insecurities even as it relived Barack Obama’s second election night. Oddly, amid everything working out even among bad people-who-turn-out-to-be-good, it was Thomas Sadoski who stole the show as he has done much of the season in spite of a relative also-ran role as 10 o’clock hour producer Don. It wasn’t even the rote Sorkinian dialogue he was given to utter in the mid-episode scene where he tells ACN’s hotshot lawyer Becca (Marcia Gay Harden) […]

Hub Network celebrates Friday the 13th with Spooky Googly Eyes Marathon

The Hub Network is getting a little goofy — er, googly, to celebrate Friday the 13th. The macabre calendar day will feature a marathon of episodes from Goosebumps and R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour, which seems natural enough, but they’ll be back with a twist. As part of the Spooky Googly Eyes Marathon, the episodes will feature characters (and creatures) who have had immense googly eyes added to their appearance. Here, maybe it’s just better if you take a look and see for yourself. The Friday the 13th Spooky Googly Eyes Marathon runs from 5pm-8pm ET tonight on The Hub […]

“Gossip Girl Acapulco” coming to UniMas

American television has borrowed from Spanish-language telenovelas (such as with the recent Devious Maids), so it shouldn’t be a surprise that the opposite would happen, as well. Such is the case with Gossip Girl Acapulco, an international adaptation of the long-running American hit Gossip Girl (which ended its run on The CW last year). Gossip Girl Acapulco started airing in Mexico in August, and will make its debut in the United States on the UniMas network Sept. 20. According to a UniMas release regarding the plot of Gossip Girl Acapulco, “When the young and beautiful Sofia Lopez-Haro returns unexpectedly to Acapulco after being out of the […]

New Girl Season 3: Zooey Deschanel on the Nick, Jess romance and bein’ quirky

For the millions who enjoy watching Zooey Deschanel play Jess on New Girl every week, you have lazy screenwriters to thank. Deschanel, who had a healthy film career going in both the indie world ((500) Days of Summer) and the mainstream (Elf, Yes Man), one day decided she just didn’t care for any of the movie roles out there. They were “one-dimensional” and “all sort of the same,” she says, echoing an oft-repeated chorus for women in showbiz. But then came Jess and New Girl. The affable sitcom arrived on FOX to much hype back in 2011, and begins its […]

“Community” re-airing on Comedy Central starting Sept. 20

Before it returns for its fifth season on NBC sometime during 2013-14 (as with much about this show historically, the network is not forthcoming at this point about exactly when, but likely in 2014), fans of Community can watch previous episodes when the cult comedy series begins its cable run on Comedy Central.
