Velocity brings Eurosport coverage to the U.S.

It may be small consolation to those motorsports fans still smarting from the loss of SPEED Channel, but Velocity is doing its part to expand its racing coverage with the introduction of Eurosport on Velocity, a weekly programming block beginning Sept. 28. The block will air Saturdays from 1-3pm ET/PT, with encore presentations on Sunday morning. This marks the first time in the 24-year history of Eurosport — Europe’s largest sports television network — that it will be broadcast in the United States. If you wanted a bow on HBO’s The Newsroom Season 2, last night’s season finale didn’t disappoint, because Aaron Sorkin solved all the world’s problems and everybody’s insecurities even as it relived Barack Obama’s second election night. Oddly, amid everything working out even among bad people-who-turn-out-to-be-good, it was Thomas Sadoski who stole the show as he has done much of the season in spite of a relative also-ran role as 10 o’clock hour producer Don. Hub Network celebrates Friday the 13th with Spooky Googly Eyes Marathon

The Hub Network is getting a little goofy — er, googly, to celebrate Friday the 13th. The macabre calendar day will feature a marathon of episodes from Goosebumps and R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour, which seems natural enough, but they’ll be back with a twist. As part of the Spooky Googly Eyes Marathon, the episodes will feature characters (and creatures) who have had immense googly eyes added to their appearance. “Gossip Girl Acapulco” coming to UniMas

American television has borrowed from Spanish-language telenovelas (such as with the recent Devious Maids), so it shouldn’t be a surprise that the opposite would happen, as well. Such is the case with Gossip Girl Acapulco, an international adaptation of the long-running American hit Gossip Girl (which ended its run on The CW last year). Gossip Girl Acapulco started airing in Mexico in August, and will make its debut in the United States on the UniMas network Sept. 20. Along with FOX News Channel’s FOX & Friends morning show getting a new cohost and redesigned studio this Monday, NBC’s Today will likewise be returning to a new studio, and adding a new member to its team — Carson Daly — on Sept. 16.
