Animal Planet series invites you to “Meet the Sloths”

Sloths — especially baby sloths — have been burning up the internet in recent years in terms of having their cuteness spread virally via pictures and videos. I have no way of measuring, of course, but they may even be close to rivaling cats in the number of adorable and funny pics populating the web, and in number of hits their images get. I know I’ve passed along my share of photos, trying to convince friends of the awesomeness of baby sloths, and last year, thanks to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, we found out that sloths even have the power […]

Premiering Sept. 10 at 8pm ET/PT, Hero Dogs of 9/11 details the stories of three World Trade Center survivors, and the working dogs that saved lives at Ground Zero. More than 300 dogs were used in the rescue and recovery operation following the attack. One of […]

Animal Planet re-airing “Mermaids” specials

Sure, Discovery Communications has likely heard the complaints from some regarding its recent trend toward programming specials that on the outside look like scientific documentaries about incredible discoveries — Mermaids! Megalodons! — but, on closer examination (and following a few seconds of rapid, hard-to-read disclaimers flashed at the end) turn out to be more fanciful “What if?” scenarios than true science. They can take those complaints under advisement and promptly ignore them, since the ratings for these shows are huge, and they will likely continue to make more of them, in addition to re-airing the ones they already created. Animal […]

“Treehouse Masters” helps Animal Planet’s Friday night ratings climb

After three episodes, Animal Planet’s new series Treehouse Masters has become a Friday night hit for the network, even though it would appear to have little to do with animals. Nelson has a team of designers and carpenters helping him out, including his son Charlie. Additionally, Pete and his wife, Judy, and daughter, Emily, own and operate […]
