NBA TV celebrates the 50th anniversary of Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game with a documentary special Wilt 100, airing Friday, March 2, at 7pm ET. On March 2, 1962, Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points for the Philadelphia Warriors in a 169-147 victory over the New York Knicks in Hershey, Pa. The 100-point plateau is a feat that has gone unmatched. There’s no video footage of the game, and there were only 4,000 spectators (though I’m sure you’ll find 25,000 who said they were there.) The 61st All-Star Game brings the NBA’s best to Orlando’s Amway Center for the annual East vs. West exhibition. The spectacle is essentially a nightmare for anyone who appreciates defense; the West beat the East 148-143 in last year’s game. (But seriously, who wants to see defense?) By now you’ve all heard about the New York Knicks’ Jeremy Lin and the “Linsanity” that’s hit America over the past week or so. But many have not actually seen Lin in action as the Knicks haven’t been on national TV since they played the Lakers last Friday (and some people in New York haven’t been able to see him). The documentary series delves behind the scenes of the Big Ten‘s college basketball season and the conference’s teams, coaches and players. The premiere episode will look at Michigan State’s Draymond Green and his hometown of Saginaw, Mich., Indiana freshman Cody Zeller, Purdue coach Matt Painter, Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger and Deshaun Thomas, and more.
