Discovery releases first Shark Week 2015 promo

That time of year already? Discovery’s Shark Week 2015 is just around the corner, airing even earlier this year, with a July 5 kickoff. Just as most holidays seem to get advertised earlier and earlier, Shark Week — likely viewed as a holiday by some, not the least of which is Discovery, who usually enjoys a ratings Christmas each summer thanks to the programming event — so Shark Week has gotten its first promo today, about two months out. Set to a revised version of “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” tweaked with some shark-y lyrics, the video […]

Alaskan Bush People Art Hack parody
Reality TV

This Alaskan Bush People parody trailer is just damn awesome

Some wonderful bastards at Art Hack Studio in Denver gave Discovery Channel’s Alaskan Bush People the Robot Chicken treatment and it’s just magnificent. Behold: They’ve captured the absurdity of the show without doing anything particularly outrageous. Love how they depict Bear (with kung fu grip?) punching the fish. My only criticism is that the Ami figure looks way too attractive. Gotta add the infected teeth. Sounds like Art Hack has a lot more ABP stuff in the works. Can’t wait to see it. And then will come a day when we’ll all be disappointed to learn their ABP figures have […]

From Discovery: “Using a new generation of cutting-edge, animatronic spy cameras disguised as sea creatures, DOLPHINS: […]

Todd Hoffman on Gold Rush season finale and why his guys get more gold

As the Klondike winter closes in exhaustion and frustration fuels many of the mining teams in the Gold Rush season finale. Season 5 could be summarized as the season where “enough was never enough.” For Parker and the Hoffman team, despite meeting their goals, they still fall short in the eyes of their bosses.  Both men are asking their teams to make one last push for more ounces, as Parker is looking to get out from Tony Beets and Todd Hoffman wants to secure land for the 2016 season. We talked to Todd Hoffman earlier this week about the season […]
