Raising Asia Recap Episodes 10 & 11: United Until the End?

This week’s Raising Asia starts right where last week left off — at the Pride Fest in Long Beach. Shawn once again has to warn someone on Asia’s team that they may not be on the team for much longer. This time he threatens Anthony for the stunt he pulled with Billy’s music. Shawn made it clear that he didn’t want Anthony messing with the music yet Anthony couldn’t help himself. Shawn also makes it clear that he knows what direction he wants his daughter to move in and it’s not the same direction Anthony’s thinking. Another performance opportunity comes […]

Fall TV shows 2014: New reality series premiere dates, times and previews

Fall means a new batch of reality TV; check out descriptions of new reality series. The Chair Starz Premieres: Sept. 6 Airs: Saturdays at 11pm Billed as “an original filmmaking experiment,” two aspiring young filmmakers are each given the same shoestring budget, the same script and the same location and asked to make wholly original theatrical releases. Mentored by Moore, actor/producer Zachary Quinto and others, excitable YouTube superstar Shane Dawson and sensitive indie filmmaker/actor Anna Martemucci display fascinatingly disparate constitutions and sensibilities on their way to creating works that will, through multi-platform viewer voting, earn one a $250,000 prize. Raising Asia Recap Episodes 8 and 9: Blood, Sweat and Tears

This week on Raising Asia, it’s Asia’s big debut performance of her new single at Planet Hollywood. Things are a bit tense (but when aren’t they?) because Shawn has to fly to Dallas for work and miss Asia’s performance. He makes sure to remind Billy what they talked about beforehand about him possibly losing his manager position. If this Planet Hollywood performance isn’t perfect then, it’ll be the last performance he’ll work on with Asia. Adding to what seems to be a never-ending battle between Anthony and Billy, Anthony comes up right before the show with some great news. He […]

Preview: Lifetime’s new makeover show Girlfriend Intervention

There’s no arguing the fact that there have been plenty of makeover shows on TV. Throughout the years it seems that once one ends, another one debuts, with the same basic concept and the same sort of host. A new brand of makeover show is long overdue and, thanks to Lifetime, that show has finally arrived in Girlfriend Intervention. Girlfriend Intervention features a unique set of “makeover artists” — hairstylist Tracy Balan, home decorating expert Nikki Chu, fashionista Tiffiny Dixon and soul seeker Tanisha Thomas — whose mission is to turn a “BW” (Basic Woman) into the truly unique woman […]

Raising Asia Recap Episodes 6 and 7: Who Wears the Pants?

This week on Raising Asia the battle between Anthony and Billy rages on. Since Billy is Asia’s manager (along with his other 20 roles), he books Asia to perform at an upcoming artist’s album release party. The artist is named Dario and, like Anthony, I have no idea who he is. Which makes me wonder even more why Kristie would allow her daughter — the next Beyoncé — to perform as an opening act for someone no one has heard of? Hmm… In case we forgot how much of a control freak Kristie is, let’s go over exactly what she […]

Interview With Dianna Williams: “Miss D” From Bring It!

Dianna “Miss D” Williams is the energetic founder of the Dancing Dolls dance team from Lifetime’s smash series, Bring It! Williams, started dancing at age 3, been teaching dance classes in Jackson, Mississippi recreational centers in 2001 and the same year, founded her competition team, the Dancing Dolls. She opened her own studio, Dollhouse Dance Factory in 2010 and teaches every style of dance imaginable, from jazz and tap to ballet and lyrical. But Williams and her jaw-dripping competition team are best known for their eye popping hip hop and majorette routines and their legendary stand battles. Miss D and […]

Raising Asia Recap Episodes 4 & 5: Kid Star or Mega Star?

On tonight’s two-episode Raising Asia event, it seems things haven’t changed much since we last visited the Ray family. Kristie is still coaching Asia’s every move while practicing-as if she knows how to dance that way herself. Things at home are no different as Nana Vicky is still visiting for a couple more weeks to help around the house and pay attention to poor little Bella. Anthony and Billy seem to continue to be on two different planets when it comes to where they want to take Asia’s career. Anthony calls Kristie to let her know about a manager, Tina, […]

Tonight On Bring It!, “Kayla’s Big Surprise”

On tonight’s episode of Lifetime’s smash dance series, Bring It!, Team Captain Kayla gets asked to the prom, and Miss D and the Dancing Dolls have an integral part in the prom-posal. Unfortunately, prom is scheduled the night before an important competition and if Kayla misses practice for a difficult lyrical routine (a major departure from the Dancing Dolls’ Majorette style) the team might not have a chance against new rivals in a new dance category. I chatted with Dianne “Miss D” Williams about tonight’s episode and she explained why she lets her girls enjoys life’s big moments. Bring It! […]

Raising Asia recap Episode 3: Oh, Mother(s)!

I’m just going to put this out there, fellow Raising Asia curious (it’s far, far too soon to call myself a fan). The real star of this thing is Bella Blu Ray. I would like Bella Blu Ray on Blu Ray and DVD, just so I can repeatedly watch her freak out with happiness about her dad or say “Asia can sing this much” while making a dime-size circle with her hand and just skip the part where everyone else is cranky with each other. But we start out this episode with everyone feeling generous toward each other. Announcing that […]
