Christopher Atkins will appear in Lifetime’s “Blue Lagoon” update June 16

My fellow lovers of The Blue Lagoon, if you’ve never quite recovered from the sight of Christopher Atkins in a loincloth — even after 30-plus years — Lifetime has a boatload of good news. On June 16, the network will premiere its original movie, Blue Lagoon: The Awakening — a modern-day take on the infamous coming-of-age-on-an-island story — and our still-handsome boy is a part of it! According to a release issued by Lifetime, Atkins will play Mr. Christiansen, a teacher who helps in the hunt for Emma and Dean. No, not Emmeline and Richard — Emma and Dean, an overachieving high-school girl and underachieving boy […]

Wonder what Abby Lee Miller does with her downtime when she’s not filming Dance Moms or terrorizing kiddies at her Pittsburgh dance studio? She’s prepping to get her thespian on in another Lifetime show! The network is reporting that Miller will make her official acting debut in an officially scripted series — well sort of — when she plays herself in an episode of its popular dramedy Drop Dead Diva. * UPDATE: Abby Lee will appear on Drop Dead Diva August 12! “Dance Moms: Miami” episode 5 recap: Tone Loco

So did everyone recover from the excitement of last week’s inferno? And speaking of excitement, I’d like to give a big ol’ Dance Moms Obsessive shout out to readers Kris and Becky who pointed out peeks at the Pitt Crew that I completely missed, despite having my eyelids dang near taped open in hopes of getting a glimpse. Shore ’nuff — there the little Ab-beleagured critters were, like pigtailed manna from Dance Moms heaven. • RELATED: Dance Moms diva Abby Lee Miller will play herself on Drop Dead Diva. But we’re here to talk about the epic adventures of the […]

“Dance Moms: Miami” episode 4 recap: Just Duet!

So, did anybody else get the heeby-shakes from having to wait two weeks for an all-new episode? I mean, last week’s Twitter dealie was slick and all that, but when we’ve been promised a Sammy/Hannah duet and all the maternal hellfire associated, seven more days to ponder it left me just a little queasy. Speaking of a little queasy, that’s pretty much how everyone looks when Victor and Angel remind them of last week’s — you know, in TV time — fifth place finish at Starbound and reiterate that if things don’t shape up and shape up quickly, the weak […]

Interview with Victor Smalley of “Dance Moms: Miami”!

Like Abby Lee Miller and the Pittsburgh Dance Moms and dancers before them, Victor Smalley, his pal and business partner Angel Armas, and their talented troupe of Stars Dance Studio dancers have become overnight TV superstars via their Lifetime reality show Dance Moms: Miami. With their fans blowing up the Twitter-verse and mobbing them at airports and dance competitions across the country, Smalley and Co. are suddenly in demand around the clock. Still, he took a little time out to tell us about what makes his studio, his dancers and their show unique. CGM: What was your reaction when you were […]

“Dance Moms Miami” episode 3 recap: Insecurities Exchange Commission

• Missed the full episode? Watch it now for free! No question about it — when it comes to Dance Moms theme songs, Miami takes the prize. No “my world, my girls” drivel down here. Down in Miiiaaaami, they dance so hot! And everybody’s taking a shot! Including Angel and Victor — Aw yeah! Victor is wearing a cassette-tape necklace that is all kinds of awesome! — who are carping on another group routine that earned first place. “You’re not living up to your full potential,” Angel tells the dancers. Apparently their full potential involves something even better than first. Uber-first! […]

“Dance Moms Miami” recap: To The Victor Go The Spoils

Week one without the Pitt Crew. I’ll be alright. I’ll be alright. I will be. All. Right. If only these moms would jazz up their wardrobes and go out for bevvies once in a while, it would certainly help. But anyway, in Miami, we learn right off the cuff that Victor and Angel don’t just want dancers — they’re in the business of making stars. And if anyone is not in the mood to be star, well, they have over 50 kids waiting to be #1. Speaking of #1, that would be Lucas, right there at the top of The […]

“Dance Moms: Miami” recap: Are You Guys Ready to Get Fierce?

Alright Miami, you saw how we do in Pittsburgh. So whaddya have? Well for starters, you have Victor Smalley and Angel Armas, who by their very dancer nature, are almost instantly more fun to watch than Abby Lee. Although they promptly get to work blowing my first impressions all to hell by demonstrating that — while both are certifiable boy divas — Victor is like one of the kids and says so and Angel is an angel with a mouth like a bullwhip. Also, Victor puts  ‘er out on the table right away: “If it wasn’t for our amazing kids, […]
