Saturday Night Live‘s spoof on Long Island Medium Theresa Caputo was seriously dead on. SNL‘s Kate McKinnon as a thinner Caputo was hilarious, from her bleach blonde hair to those look-a-like prized nails and copycat wardrobe – she had the medium pegged. McKinnon, also a native of Long Island, easily picked up Caputo’s Jersey accent and attitude and drove it home – the group reading where the entire room responded to having a grandfather named Sal was great, as well as the annoyed woman at the grocery store getting an impromptu reading from Theresa. Long Island Medium Theresa Caputo returned for a third season last night with two back-to-back new episodes: “Homecoming” and “A Medium Surprise.” Season 3 of Long Island Medium (TLC Sundays at 9pm ET/PT) features 16 new episodes, which means the Kleenex box at my house will now be part of my coffee table arrangement for the next eight-plus weeks. Initially, “Homecoming” lacked the natural conversational feel of the Caputo household, and instead felt more scripted and forced versus their usual fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants diatribes and annoyances, but it eventually came together. Tickets are on sale for the Theresa Caputo tour. The Long Island Medium is taking her show on the road, making live appearances at various venues across the nation. Similar to her popular TLC series, Long Island Medium, Theresa will be doing super-sized group readings, hopefully connecting attendees with the spirits of their passed loved ones, along with sharing some of her personal stories about being a medium in her usual quirky style.
