By Ryan On the day that MLB Network is to have its first ever live game broadcast — Brewers at Giants at 7pm ET — the network announced that it has doubled its live games this season and will add a game on Saturday nights, bringing the network’s total number of live games this season to 52. By Ryan FOX returns with Major League Baseball regional action on April 11, opening its 14th season of carrying MLB. This season features a new start time — 4pm ET (except when games precede NASCAR races, see schedule below). This season also features new-look pregame and postgame shows, as Chris Rose brings fans late-breaking baseball news and notes and sets the scene for the day’s MLB action. If you got up early to watch the World Baseball Classic game between China and Japan on Thursday morning, then you, my friend, are hardcore. The rest of us are probably going to catch a few WBC games when it’s convenient, and this weekend should give plenty of opportunities as the tournament begins in earnest. The series devotes an hour to each MLB team, giving viewers an inside look at preparations for the 2009 season with field reports, interviews and a look back at each team’s 2008 season and offseason activity. Each episode also looks back at the best moments in team franchise history, and includes a roundtable discussion featuring a panel of front-office personnel and baseball writers. MLB Playoffs On TBS

The MLB playoffs start today, and for the first time, TBS will have exclusive coverage of the Division Series. TBS also has coverage of the National League Championship Series, alternating between NLCS and ALCS with FOX for the next seven years. I’m curious to gauge public sentiment on how the TBS exclusive deal is going to mess with TV viewers who don’t have cable.
