“The Beautiful Life: TBL” premieres tonight

By Emily Mitchell This show is awesome. Let me explain why. First off, for anyone who loves fashion, The Beautiful Life: TBL is going to feature some great designers. In the first episode, the models are walking the catwalk for Zac Posen. Secondly, although the show is obviously scripted, the behind-the-scenes action isn’t too cheesy, and the actors share the tall and lanky physique of real runway models.

“One Tree Hill” will never die … will it? (Part 1)

by haro1d We’re in new territory. The new season of One Tree Hill without Lucas and Peyton started last night. How’d it go? Read on … The episode opens with Dan Scott on the screen, talking about how, on the eve of his son’s first NBA game, he was sitting outside contemplating the death that was stalking him and supposed to claim him in a matter of days. He says that that was 14 months ago, and he’s still going on. (So we know, at this point, how much later the series is picking up. And yes, it’s noticeable how […]

“The Vampire Diaries” Series Premiere!

By Emily Mitchell I know what you are thinking … “Another vampire show? Honest to Pete!” I was thinking the same thing. Don’t we already have Twilight? And True Blood? Vampire culture has developed a cult following, much like Harry Potter. So here we are, with another vampire series. But before you rush to judgment like I did, take note. The Vampire Diaries is filmed in the South, specifically in Georgia (True Blood is filmed in Louisiana), and is based on the books of L.J. Smith (not Stephenie Meyer like Twilight.) Although there are many similarities between The Vampire Diaries […]

Season Two of 90210 Premieres Tonight!

By Emily Mitchell Like Melrose Place, The CW has recreated another former ’90s success to cater to a new generation of viewers; one that is highly sensationalized, sexualized and succulent. The CW’s popular teen lineup, which also includes the previously mentioned Melrose Place, and the second season of 90210, begin tonight.

The Return of “Melrose Place” Tonight!

By Emily Mitchell I have never seen an episode of the original Melrose Place. However, the generation gap between the original and the new doesn’t leave me or the new generation of viewers in the dust. Its tagline is still the same: “Lying, cheating, stealing, seduction, backstabbing, betrayal, murder … it’s just another day at Melrose Place.” Let the drama begin. This time around, the cast is full of “Young Hollywood” starlets, including Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Katie Cassidy (daughter of ’70s teen heartthrob David Cassidy). These names are sure to draw a crowd, in particular Simpson-Wentz. (Because let’s be honest: […]

Paul Wesley talks “The Vampire Diaries”

By Jeff Pfeiffer When he was in his late teens, young heartthrob Paul Wesley played his first supernatural being — werewolf Luke Cates in the short-lived 2001 series Wolf Lake, which remains a cult favorite among some. It was a role that seems fitting now, to Wesley, for the age he was then. “I always associate werewolves … with this kind of instinctive anger,” he says, ” … More like animals with rabies. When I was playing the werewolf, I was like 18 years old, and I think I was just like this teen who was running rampant. And I […]

The CW Announces Fall Season Schedule

by Karl J. Paloucek Whether The CW is playing it safe in this troubled economy or it’s just basing its new work on its current successes (I’d like to think the latter, though it’s probably a bit of both), for you fans of the young-adult-skewed network, it doesn’t matter. All you need to know is to expect more of the same. In 2009, its cult-of-beauty lineup expands in some VERY familiar directions. Among the new shows announced: Melrose Place (Tuesdays, 9pm ET/PT) Yep, it’s happening. Not only has The CW succeeded in reinventing Beverly Hills, 90210 with its own version, […]

“One Tree Hill”: The Slippery Slope NEVER ENDS 23

by haro1d It’s all over. Well, not really, but this year’s chapter is. The Season Finale for One Tree Hill aired last night, and truth be told, it easily could have been a series finale. Nearly every one of the OTH gang reached a point of resolution … except for Dan Scott, who still has a way to go. This time, things opened with a summary “montage” such as is usually found at the end of each OTH episode. It went something like this: Lucas is at the hospital. After delivering Peyton to the emergency ward, he washes his bloody […]
