Channel Guide interviews Leif Garrett!

In the interest of full disclosure, I was one of the approximately 40 bazillion teenage girls who plastered their bedroom walls with posters of Leif Garrett throughout the ’70s and ’80s. In fact, I had it so bad for the sleepy-eyed, flaxen-haired heartthrob that my best bud and I would spend hours throwing suction-tip darts at the images and smooching whichever one we hit. So when I finally scored an interview with Garrett, Channel Guide‘s copy chief, Jill, encouraged me not to share that particular story — or as she sagely put it, “Don’t lead with the crazy.” I […]

Les Gold has to be a tough guy a lot in his business, running a pawn shop in rough-and-tumble Detroit. But there’s also an undeniable warmth to Gold as well, and as he took some time to answer our “7 Questions,” this was the side we got to know. Outside this conversation, he revealed that he’s working on a […]

7 Questions With … Ron Shirley of truTV’s “Lizard Lick Towing”

Talking with Ron Shirley is, to borrow one of his phrases (a.k.a. “Ronisms”), more fun than a possum in a persimmon tree. The burly Southerner is back for another season of truTV’s Lizard Lick Towing, which the network bills as an “actuality” series about the goings-on at a repossession business in rural North Carolina. The series returns for a brand new season at 10pm June 11. 1. You’re at a magazine rack and can only pick three titles. Which ones do you choose? MAD Magazine, Field & Stream and People. 2. Aside from Lizard Lick Towing, of course, if your […]

Watching the NCAA Tournament in Las Vegas

It wouldn’t be March without the madness of the NCAA college basketball tournament, and I admit I never thought there would be anything more exciting than attending these games in person. Thousands upon thousands of sports fans descend upon Sin City with the hope of riding the play of college athletes to financial glory. Being a giant sports fans but not a savvy gambler, I showed up to […]

2012 NCAA Tournament TV schedule

Click here for the 2012 NCAA Tournament TV Schedule Which will it be this year: an NCAA men’s basketball tournament dominated by the high seeds or a tournament with brackets busted by the underdogs? Historically, if you add up the seeds of Final Four teams, you typically get a number between eight and 11. A look at recent tournaments reveals how much that number has fluctuated: […]

truTV’s “Impractical Jokers” mixes “Candid Camera” with “Jackass”

By Stacey Harrison Follow @ChannelGuideSRH Only best friends could humiliate each other so thoroughly. That’s the thinking behind the new hidden-camera comedy series Impractical Jokers, which features four longtime bros who put each other through dares aimed at maximizing public humiliation. This is accomplished by sending each man out individually and having what he says and does be dictated to him by his cackling buddies, who are feeding him their demands through an earpiece. In trying to get customers at a White Castle counter to leave tips, that means having to be flirtatious, staying completely silent, or even saying everything […]
