- 8. Jimmie Johnson outduels Matt Kenseth in the closing laps of the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway for his ninth victory of the season.
- 7. Clint Bowyer wins his first career Cup Series race after entering the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup as the 12th seed.
- 6. Juan Pablo Montoya becomes the first Hispanic driver to win a race in NASCAR’s top two series, winning the Busch Series race at Mexico City and the NEXTEL Cup race at Infineon Raceway.
