Scariest Scary Movie #15 – Pet Sematary

Pet Sematary (1989, Dale Midkiff, Fred Gwynne, Denise Crosby)

Sometimes dead is better.

Quick Plot: Beyond a small town’s pet cemetery lies an ancient burial ground that has the power to bring back the dead. After tragedy strikes Louis Creed’s family, grief and desperation drive him into the real “sematary.” He soon finds out that the dead don’t always come back the same.

Scariest Scene: For me, the scariest scene is just before the end, when after everything, after Louis has to kill his undead cat and undead son, he picks up his wife’s body and starts carrying it to the sematary.

Final Say: What would you if you had the chance to bring back someone you love? Probably the same thing. That is what makes the story so compelling. While Pet Sematary is predictable, full of cheesy dialogue (sorry scriptwriter Stephen King, but it is) and often silly, the last twenty minutes keep you right on the edge of your seat.
