Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I can’t beloved all the people on here actually believing in this crap, it is called cold reading and anyone can do it. All she does is ask questions and read body language then provide a vulnerable person with what they want to hear. As for the TV show, people only see heavily edited versions of the “readings”. People like her are what’s wrong with this world; preying on vulnerable people for money. Tsk tsk. If she was really a medium she should take up the offer of that one person for the million dollars to prove it; and for people that say its a “gift” and not for the money, do the challenge for the million and donate it to charity. There’s just something wrong with people calling her a “modern day angel”, that is disgusting.

I admire for what you do to a people. I think i have a gift too. But I need a help of someone like you, to explain me what to deal with. Last year I had a undiognostical pains like anxiety, palpitations , etc. Doctor visits can’t really figure it out what happens with me. But its all past I had to accept my ancestors that wanted to guide me . And here Im someone have to be a shaman. I didn’t choose this, but I didn’t had other way either I have to accept , or get sick , or bad thing could of happen to me. I think people like you are all over the world, for a one reason that life after life do exist, and we need to save our planet , the Mother earth , let people know to love the nature speak to it cause everything sun, moon, trees, water you name it it is alive. If we don’t do nothing now, the future of our kids, and their kids and so on they could be in danger no water, no food etc. We need to stop digging for a gold, mine etc. Other wise Mother earth will do her cleaning which means possible earthquake’s, tsunami’s you name it. And we don’t want to all this disasters to happen and understand late. I think that is why the main reason of all this shamans, mediums, spiritual people are getting. As a human been you have to be a good person, if you do bad things, oh yes, the HELL do exist. For me I’m still learning , probably alots to learn and my journey of a shaman to help people mentally, and maybe physically like you is my dream . Like Yesterday morning I was kind a half asleep, half awake and I herd a mens voice he was talking with his mouth closed, and couldn’t understand nothing. I just wants to know what is that means, is it on of the steps to be a medium ? I lost my grandma 6days ago and she was in the hospital so i didnt get to say good bye she. was a mother to me and i love to talk to her so i would love to have therasa to channel her so i can be ok with her passing
Hi Theresa, I lost both of my parents by the time I was 26 yrs. I hadnt seen my father in about 8 years and went to see him when I was 18yrs. I spent a week with him and 2 weeks later he passed away. My mother and I had a off and on relationship for years but the last 5 were good before she passed. I feel them and know that I recieve messages from them both in my dreams. But I miss them dearly. I wasnt there when either of them passed. I am also concerend about my husbands brother who passed when he was 5 months old. He was murdered. The case was never truley solved. It has haunted him and our family for years. I believe that our son Collin is the possible reincarnatioin of my husbands brother. I have many questions, to many I’m sure. I have always believed, but don’t trust everyone who clams to be a medium. I live in Indiana. So unforuntely no where close to you, but would love to have some answers if you might someday have time. have had alot of loss in my life. Since that time my health continues to get worse. I want to have a spiritual cleaning and to get some strength to go on from my passed on memebers o a sign that I will be leaving life soon.
