Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Theresa my brother passed in May 2002.He was gone a week before we found out.We never knew what he actually died from.This has torn my parents up .I would appreciate any help to end closure on this.
I am currently going through chemo and working close to full time. I am a single parent and I have to! My mom has dementia and my dad and my best friend have both passed. I feel so alone and have serious doubts about my faith. I try to believe but I am lost. Anyway, I love your personality and your show. It helps.

I am desperate to contact you. My mom just passed over on 3-20-12. I have not “heard” from her. I really thought by now I would receive a sign or see her. Please help me. I know you are so very busy. I just watched your show for the 1st time and cried the entire time. I lost my son Brian May 18th, 2010 when another Fort Bragg soldier shot him in the chest over an ex-girlfriend. He did instantly. Brian was the 3rd of six children and only 21. I just want to say goodbye to him and miss him terribly.

Hello, Theresa, first I just want to send Blessings to your family and yourself. I think your an amazing lady. I have an immediate requirement that I need your actions on with in the month of May/June. I can NOT wait till 2013 for we will no longer be in the home that I feel I need these last words to keep me and my loved past ones at rest. I severly cry EVERYDAY since 2010. I seen a docter over my loss and they just prescribe xanax that I have not and will not take. I have a family of 6 that needs severe closure. Ecspecialy me. I watch your show every Sunday, like your my church and Their is not 1 reading that I dont cry.
