Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

This was an update to what TLC previously provided (Longislandmedium@gmail.com). That email address we have tried and have never gotten a response. Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

My daughter just lost her healthy 9yr.old son on Good friday april 6th 2012. They found him lying on the bathroom room rug blue and not breathing .He was rushed to the hospital and they tried to revieve him for 45 min. but couldn’t bring him back. My family is still in shock and want to know if he is alright. They listed his death as natural causes .He had a cough for two days no fever and was playing video games with his brother. My daughter has so much guilt she hopes he didn’t suffer. His brother found him he (is 11yrs old) and is suffering with the loss as well as his sister who just turned 16 the day after also a brother age 20 who called the fire department. My daughter also lost two miscarriages at 5mo and 51/2mo both boys and now her youngest boy. Can you please try to help her . Thank you

I realize you must have a zillion people who are wanting to have a reading with you. I have seen Robert Brown 4 times and I absolutely love him. I always get a response back from him and he goes all over the world and has for many years. His fees are ok and he does it for one hour or a little more. Obviously the gift is wonderful in many aspects financially and helping people. I have tried your website…says…coming soon. Would love to have a reading with you as I am sure thousands upon thousands people do. Should I wait for you or go see Robert Brown? I would you but have heard nothing back from you as I e-mailed you 4 times. As you have no website like Robert Brown does, possibly that is the problem. He has a women who answers immediately for an appointment.

I have been watching your show since it has started and I love it!!! I have always been fasinated by what you do. The reason I am writing this comment is because my dad passed away on March 3rd very suddenly and it has been very difficult for me. I was daddy’s little girl he was everything to me. I truly enjoy your show and how you’ve helped so many people. Especially, with closure. The only thing I would like to know is; if my husband, mother and other family members are happy and together. I lost my mother a year ago. She was my best friend. I have two girls ages 7 and 8. I suffer from depression and anxiety. My mother was the only person I could go to for anything. Now I feel totally alone. I can’t even go to my husband. I need to know she is ok. I have many guilty feelings re not being there when she passed. I was on my way but did not make it in time.
