Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

My name is Hilary – I am 28 years old from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I just finished watching your show on TLC and was completely amazed. I was crying watching the other peoples stories. You have inspired me to try using a medium to contact my father who passed away in 1998 of cancer and my friends sister who passed away at 21 of Leukemia. Its been years and I still think about them both so much and wonder if they are ok. I am pregnant with my first child and I wonder if my dad knows. I also wonder if he has been watching over my mum because she is going through a lot of stuff and things have been really tough for her. Anyway, I’m sure it is impossible to get an appt with you but I was wondering how I can find a medium that is not a fake in my area. When I saw you on TV something about you told me to try and contact you, I am a psychic, I’ve been able to read minds since I was 18 years old, and it’s just like you say, glimpses, signs, and symbols. Hi Theresa, My Best Friend committed suicide March 6th 2010 when I was with her at a party. I miss her dearly and blame my self every day to this day that it was my fault I didnt follow her outside. She said she just wanted to be alone for a bit. She was very upset and crying over another one of her friends she earlier was on the phone with. Normally when some one tells you theyd like a few mins to be alone you let them be. To this day I blame my self for not going with her because she was also younger then I and I feel I should have been watching over her. Few days later we had to say goodbye as they shut then breathing tube off. very sad and miss her dearly. Was wondering if shes around me because I some times think I can feel her and every time I take a picture theres always bubbles near me in the picture was wondering if it were her. Wow! Just watched your show & was told about it by a dear friend! I have been struggling with the loss of my female soul mate my grandmother, sweet sister,& having had an amputation due to an accident, along with losing my marriage, has left me super depressed, not that anyone would know as I do not do pity parties, but I suffer in silence. I am back to work full time & grateful for that among many other great blessing in life. I cried watching the show & being a true believer, am hoping to just get some answers to whether my sweet Nani, is watching over me, I know it would help me so much to know she is watching over me & help bring some balance back to my life. Dear Theresa, our dear friend and neigbour tragically committed suicide about 6 weeks ago, his life from our end looked good. He had a wonderfully family and was loved very much. I keep thinking I feel his presence and it kind of unerves me. I was present with my 1 week newly wed husband at the time, as well as our mothers, his wife and one of his three children….we were less than 10feet away. I still feel horrible about this and I know his family is going through hell. She is homeless now staying with friends, her family is seperated as there is no room for all under one roof, …. if you get something(messages) from Kevin Elliott. please no need to tell me, just email and I will put you in contact with his widow….. I have always believed that god has angels that watch over from the time we are born. ! I have been to a medium here in california. My husband passed in 2/11. We are 16 yrs apart in age. I am 64. Married almost 10 yrs. 2nd marriage. He was the smile in my heart. Miss him very much. I am so lost without him.

Well I’m also a Medium and would never charge for a reading, A “gift from God ” So why would anyone make a profit out of a God’s gift ???? I don’t go advertizing my abilities and read people I meet in the store ,street , and anywhere else. This feeling of reading people come spantaneous, its not eveyone we meet that we can read.
So I wonder , aren’t supposely “MEDIUM taking people’s money in the Name of God ? That’s a shame !!!!!!
This is so very hard for me to write. The fact that my name will be published and people might know it’s me terrifies me, as I try to pretend that I am emotionally strong.
