Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I would like to know how to get a reading and how much it costs. You see, I lost my dad in May of 2010 he died very quickly after getting cancer. Thirteen days later my 14 year old grandson died of a freak accident. I still have so many unanswered questions and I’m having a very difficult time coping. I suffer from depression and I constantly think about the both of them and how they suffered. I really need to know that they are both okay.

I have seen your show and loved it having lived in the NY area for 7 years before I moved back home to Ky. Watching your show makes me remember those days in NY….but my husband now is a native Kentuckian and I made him watch your show last night…was not interested until I would not change the channel…now he is a “believer” kind of…he had uncles that have had the same gift as you but since they have passed…but he would like to get intouch with his departed grandmother which he deeply loved and admired to see if she is doing well. Do you ever travel to other states to do conventions? Or even talk at said conventions? My mother who is 79 never knew her real father and it seems to me she has always had an empty spot in her soul because of this fact…..I feel if she could be told something about him it might just fill that empty space and make her last years in this demention of life happier.

First I want to say that I love your show. I believe you truly have a gift and that you are a beautiful soul. You are such a kind and loving person. The way you share your gift with strangers on the street is wonderful and gives me hope that perhaps you could help my daughter and myself. My son passed away under strange circumstances and has left us with so many questions. He was living with my mother in PA, I am in KS. She called me one morning to tell me that Aaron had gone to bed around midnight but when she went to check on him the next morning, he was gone. His wallet and cell phone were still in his room so we knew something had happened. He was missing for two weeks. . PA had a record breaking blizzard the night he went missing and when the snow melted two weeks later, we found him behind the house, 50 feet from the back door. He had succumbed to hypothermia. We are devastated and left with many questions. We need to know that he is at peace now but most of all, why did he go out that night in just light clothing and walk to the back of the house. It makes no sense and we are at a loss to comprehend it . I know you must get thousands of requests and I know that your waiting list is two years. I just had to take a chance as I know that you have a true gift. I understand if you don’t respond. I just so much want to understand. I have so much guilt over his death and so many things left unsaid. Bless you and your family for all the people you help.

In hoping I could receive the blessing of your gift, I understand that You have to be called by a spirit to convey a message or messages.
