Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

This was an update to what TLC previously provided (Longislandmedium@gmail.com). That email address we have tried and have never gotten a response. Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I recently lost my father about 6 months ago. and I haven’t been able to let go. I was wondering if there was a way we could communicate with him. my name is estefania murphy. i am 20 years old and in love.. this is not for me but its for the kid that i gave my all to. his name is kyle martin callahan, hes 20 years old as well and lost his dad when he was 18 years old.. he hasn’t spoke about it at all since it happened.. and i think it is one of the main reasons why he won’t get back together with me.. its sad to see him because he puts up a good front but you can see he is a sad person inside.. the more he bottles his feelings the more he pushes himself away from me.. not only is he the love of my life but he is my best friend.. im scared that he will get deeper in to drugs and alcohol and into promiscuous relationships. i want my old kyle back and i really need him to know that his father is up in heaven looking down on him and protecting him. he needs to know that his father still loves him and that he needs to start loving him self if he wants to be happy in life.. hes a stubborn boy and hard headed.. im trying very hard to move on from him and find myself on my own but its hard knowing that he isn’t getting the help he needs and isn’t hearing the right advice.. i am not looking to be on your show but i am definitely looking for some kind of advice to help him. id greatly appreciate it if you got back in contact with me. thank you so much and god bless you and god bless your family and show.. best of wishes
