Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hello, my name is barb haynes im from baltimore md. I have been following Theresa shows and I am in all with it.. I have a situation that I have been dealing with for the past 6 months and its killing me and im not sure what to do about it or how I can come to peace with it… my mother died may 7th 2010… with a terrible disease I was there when she took her last breath and my husband died july 13 2010.. it was a sudden death very unexpected… I have 6 brothers and sisters and 23 nieces and nephews.. I am dealing with my moms death worse now 2 years ago then ever … I found out about 6 months ago that my dad did something to my mother that was beyond terrible while she was dying.. I found out about it and I need to address it somehow to show my mom that I have her back and that he cannot get away with this… knowing this it has really hindered my relationship with my dad along with all my siblings feeling the same way… my mother was our glue and I need her to know we have her back on this I want so much to tell her he isn’t getting away with this and if we would of known this when she was here with us we would of delt with it then,, just visualizing what he did to her rips me apart and I have night mares and its tottaly consumed my daily function.. I moved in with my parents to help take care of her and done everything I could to make her last days here peaceful… I would love to talk to Theresa im afraid if I cant figure out how to deal with this i just need some guidance here….i hope to hear from you thank you for your time..
i am a full believer of mediums…. but like others, i want to hear from my deceased relatives. mostly, my father. i am not sure if he is departed, or alive. He left my mother and i when i was just 5. i am 16 now. he pretty much just vanished, without a goodbye. And all i wanna know, is that if i can seach for him later in life, or am i too late…..My grandmother is departed, and maybe if she comes through, she can give me answers. How can i make an appointment?
I am not writing this for myself, my sister and brother in law really need to speak to you, they have recently lost a daughter and have no closeure with her death, maybe if they met with you they would have a better understanding of what happened.

I really need to see if you could connect me with a few special people in my life that was the biggest influences in my life, they have all been gone a long time , my grandparents 15 years and my dad has been gone 11. Theresa I read I think it was in a book by Jean Dixson that souls select the body they want to be born in. when soul does this does this mean they will not be there when we pass? I lost my husband 5 years ago and my parents many years ago does it mean I will not see them when I pass

I am a new fan… I caught a glimpse of your show a week ago and watched show after show today! I cried several times just seeing how you have touched so many lives; you truly make a difference for so many!!!
I have a short story to share with you, and the second reason I’m emailing you today… About 15 years ago I learned from my Grandma that as soon as I could talk, I would tell my family, ” don’t be afraid to get dead, you come back as someone else”. I would tell them that I was a mommy named, ironically Teresa, and that I had a little girl, but got in a car accident and died… If I fall asleep when someones driving and the car hits a bump, I have several times sat straight up seeing me in a car that hits a tree I feel near a cliff; maybe something like the PCH in CA. I also feel that my husband and I were so very much in love, that I still have dreams occasionally and wake up crying, because I still long for him? I know this sounds crazy, but you might just understand!
