Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi Teresa, My aunt passed away, Iwas taking care of her while she was sick. After her passing,I was beaten almost to death by a family mamber saying i was mean to her and a lot of other thing’s I would like to know that my aunt is okay and in a good place.Thank you. Mary.
Hi Theresa, I have lost a few poeple in my relatively short life 1)my grandmother on my fathers side when i was very young 2)my first child when i was only 20 3)My first husband when i was 21 4)My grandfather when I was i think 27 5)My oldest living daughters father when i was about 29 or 30. I feel this causes me to to lack control of my emotions and I think of them all too often. I feel I have disappointed any one of them by not being the best person i could be to myself,children and my husband now. Is there anything or anyway I can find out 1)How my first daughter and husband died? Or if anyone might have a message for me that might help me know that they dont carry any animosities towards me? I LOVE watching your show, especially your family’s reaction to your work as well as their support. Just seeing all of you together is great fun. Victoria is adorable, Larry Sr and Jr are typical guy laughs. Even my husband admits, reluctantly, that he enjoys your show because it isn’t all so serious. Of course, the peace and love you bring to bereaved individuals is priceless. Love to all of you.
Theresa I lost my grandson on Nov 1st 2008 and I hear and feel his presence all the time. My daughter however has had a terrible time dealing with his death and has had many breakdowns with drug abuse I wish there was a way I could help her realize he is okay and that he doesn’t want her to be this way. Can you give me any comforting words for her? Thank You and God Bless you for all you do.

I struggle with issues from a loss I had two years ago & pray that one day when we meet they will understand & forgive me for handling their illness like I did.
