Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I love your show – it is very inspirational and surprising at the same time. I really felt for you when you talked about the little boy “Steven”. I can’t imagine how hard that was for you!!! You give people peace in their minds with their passed relatives. And you are so cute at the way you address perfect strangers in public settings to share your medium thoughts and feelings with them. One episode you said: “What’s with the buttons?” I found that very entertaining. Anyway . .
My Mom passed away when she was living alone in a very small apartment. I suspect that she laid in her apartment for several days before anyone found her body, based on the information I received from her landlord and neighbors. This is not the way I wanted my Mom to die. I want to know more about her passing and let her know that I am sorry for not being the best daughter I could have been. I want her to understand my issues with my parents’ divorce when I was young, so that maybe she can understand my awkwardness in her and my relationship. She truly did the best job she could have done for a single Mom.
Most of my family has passed and I don’t have any children. The loneliness of not having my family around is challenging – especially on the holidays. Most of them struggled with diseases before their death and I would like to know that I have people around me that still care so I can carry on with my life.
Please come to Chicago for a group reading. I would absolutely love the chance for you to channel at least one of my family members, knowing that they are with me and at peace so I can carry on with my life successfully.

How do I begin? We all know the power of love! We are shaped and molded by those people who have passed through our lives. Sometimes we don’t recognize the importance they have made in creating our destiny. I have been touched by recognizing messages that I have received from those who have passed yet there are two loved ones who have tried to tell me something before their passing. It would be a beautiful gift to have someone help me through my journey to the path of understanding to what they were trying to communicate to me. My husband, a NYPD Sgt was found suspiciously in his car in a gas station with a gun shot to his stomach several years ago. We were told it was a suicide. There was no note, no blood., the list goes on and on. Our family would like some closure. WE have tried but have not gotten any answers….

Dear Theresa, I had set up an appointment with you last year (in about Oct./Nov.) and was told that it was a year wait, and that you would give me a reminder phone call about a month before my appointment. Someone did contact me from your office last month (or in late August) and asked me if I wanted my reading televised. I said no, that it would be best if we kept it private. Before I was able to ask when my appointment is now scheduled for, we hung up the phone. I’m hoping my appointment is still available for me – I just need someone to tell me what day. dear theresa, My nephew passed away 11 months ago, he was very young, I need to connect with him, our family will never be the same without him, he was a very special person and is deeply missed by all in our area, he touched so many people. My mom passed away two weeks after I became pregnant with my daughter Alexandra. My mom’s name was Janice. My mom was an amazing person who gave me a great deal of guidance. I know you have a very long waiting list and I would like to make an appoint for me and my sister whenever you have one available. My sister was 5 months pregnant and she found out during the routine genetic testing that the baby had a rare disease called triploidy causing her to have 3 sets of chromosomes and part of her brain did not develop. My sister and her boyfriend were faced with the hardest decision of their lives to either have a second trimester abortion or for my sister to be induced for early delivery. They chose for her to be induced and we knew on Sept. 23, 2010 that this little angel would not be coming home with us. She was stillborn when my sister delivered her and she was only 7oz and 9in long. And my family is so strong that we even held our little angel and had her in the hospital room with us for an hour until my sister gave her to the hospital and we had her cremated. The nurses were amazing that day and even made my sister a beautiful memory box with pictures of her and her footprints. A year has passed and my sister still has not had her closure. We tried group counseling and that did not work. I wonder if a session would you would help her to start her healing after losing her baby in such an awful way. We know God needed an angel we just don’t know why it happened to her. Maybe if she knew she was ok it would help her. I live in NJ but I will bring her to Long Island anytime to help my sister heal. I love her so much and it breaks my heart knowing a part of her died that day along with our little angel Adelina Lynn. Thank you Theresa and God Bless you!

I am just trying to check out how this works. This is not for me, I have a friend who lost a loved on suddenly 2 years ago and she has tried to get some sort of closure this situation. I know you have a waiting list for 2 years atleast and I would like to find out about rates and if you would be able to do a session over the phone, seeing we live in Louisiana.
