Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi my name is Marina. A dear friend of mine named, Dean passed away in July of 1996 from a heart condition, I`m not sure maybe, cardiomyopathy. I had had a terrible accident in April 1996. Hi Theresa, Im a 40 year old woman I live in West Babylon NY. I lost my mother when I was six years old my mom was also pregnant when she died. She never comes to me in her dreams I often wonder if she is around me and guiding me through my life since I lost her at such a young age. When I look at pictures of my self at that age I look lost and I still feel lost not knowing. Dear Theresa I just lost my mother on June 22,2012. I told her right before she passed that if she needed to go I understood and I loved her so much and that she would never be alone. Hours later she passed. I can’t stop crying and I just want to know if she is ok, happy and not alone. Her grandkids miss her! My youngest used to see her at the hospital and say “grandma sleeping” and I told him grandma is in the sky sleeping but he says “grandma cookies”…I ask him is she eating cookies? He says “yeah”. Hi Theresa! My sister could really use some help. Two weeks ago on the night of her son’s high school graduation her boyfriend of 6 yrs was killed in a tragic car accident.
