Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

When we last talked to Theresa (January 2012), she told us the best way to reach her is via her new website at www.theresacaputo.com. Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi Theresa, I have lost many family members along the way and since i’ve moved out of my parents house, I’m always feeling like something/someone is following me and guiding me. I had went to see a psychic and she told me that I definetly have a guardian angel watching over me whom is very powerful. I’m just curious who it would be and if any of them are proud of where I am today.. My mother and I would like to come for a reading, but we live in Ontario Canada. My Dad walked out on me, my 2 brothers and Mom 47 years ago when I was 10. He passed about 15 years ago or so. I only saw him one time when I was 25. He refused to see me after that. I need to see if he is at peace and why he refused to see me. I have been struggling with being without a Dad since I was 10 – I am 57 now. It affects all of my relationships. I am 38 yrs old and have had 8 people pass away in my family. But I lost my first child at 6 months pregnancy in 1998. I struggle every year to not get depressed. It just hits me and i can’t function mentally or physically sometimes. I also feel a really strong connection to my grandmother (on my father’s side) even though she passed when I was 5 yrs old. I am going through alot of things right now and there has been a few deaths in my life that have affected my life to the point that its hard for me to deal with. I’ve learned to let go, but for a few of them, I need answers. Please hear my voice and please help me get this feeling out of me.

Dear Michele- I am a shy, calm, almost 50 yr old. When we receive a message from a loved one we cry tears of JOY because it gives us a “closeness” for a moment with our loved one. I just lost my bestfriend (my mom) Aug 3, 2011. I would do ANYTHING to be on TV, in TEARS, and have Theresa validate my mother watching over us. To cry on TV when given validation is NOT cruel, validation gives us COMFORT! Lisa Williams had a show on TLC. She came to Iowa to do a show a few years ago. I went and Lisa told me all about my childrens fathers passing. I was very fortunate to have had a reading by Lisa because only a handful of people our of a large audience were read. My co-workers relative was at the show that night too, and she THOUGHT IT WAS FAKE. There are many medium-wanna-bes, but Theresa is for real. Look at the client’s face, the tears of JOY. Hi my name is sherry I lost my mom April 27,2008 I took care of my mom until she pasted away in our family home. My father past away June 22,2010 on my twins 7th birthday he also died in the same spot she of our house as mom did. My father gave up after losing his wife of 48 years.
