Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

we are a 501c non-profit organization. I wrote to you before but I guess you never received it. My daughter at 29 was murdered on July 10,1999 and the family has never gotten any peace. Our foundation fight for the righta to break the chains of domestic violence and bullying. All money goes to these causes.We do have fundraisers and pyschics are a favorite. Theresa, I hope you realize that you are doing an amazing job – you’ve helped so many people. I hope you can help me. I’ve been seeing “something” in my place in the middle of the night. Not that it scares me but I feel it could be my mother. My mom had passed away 20 plus years but sometimes I just feel she is still around. My 21 years old is trying to get a motorcycle and I’m definitely not a big fan of that. I’m hoping to be able to talk to my mom and ask her if she can watch over for him. Do you have any openings? Dear Theresa, I lost my pet about a year ago. He was very, very special to me. He was like a child. I still grieve for him and I don’t know if he’s alive or dead. I desperately need closure. If you could possibley help me it would be greatly appriciated.

Hi Theresa, I lost one of my 5 brothers 3 yrs ago this 18th of November coming up. He commited suicide according to the police. My mother said she dreammed with symbols or what she thought were happy and peaceful passing to the other side days after him being burried. I on the other hand have not dreamt of him once. I talk to him often and always have him in mind. I just wonder why he does not come to me in my dreams. If I could only have him validate that he is in a better place, I would put my mind at ease. HI WONDERFUL PERSON. FOUR YEARS AGO I WALKED IN MY 26 YEAR OLD SONS ROOM TO FIND HIM PASSED AWAY WITH WHAT I CAN REMEMBER SEEING A GLOW AROUND HIS BODY. HE HAD A HORRENDOUS YEAR AFTER GETTING ADDICTED TO OPIATES BY A DR. FOR A 6 WEEK ILLNESS IN THE HOSPITAL. HE WAS IN TERRIBLE PAIN HOWEVER THE VERY FIRST SHOT OF MORPHINE CHANGED HIS PERSONALITY TOTALLY. I LATER FOUND OUT THAT DESPITE PAIN MEDS EVER 4 HRS. THE DR. SAID HE COULD HAVE IT WHEN NEEDED.
HE IS AND ALWAYS BE MY BABY, THE SWEETEST MOST LOVING PERSON I HAVE EVER KNOWN. THE FOLLOWING 8 MONTHS WERE FOLLOWED BY DETOX IN ER ROOMS TWO REHABS, ETC. HE HATED BEING THAT WAY BUT THE DRUG WITHDRAWAL CAUSED HIM ANXIETY AND THE DR. WOULD NOT REFILL HIS MEDS.

I’ve lost far too many people. U have far too many people with the same needs contacting you. I’m struggling with where I’m at. I lost my dad 6 years ago. I am still having a really hard time with his death. I feel everything has just stopped and I haven’t been able to move on.
