Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I take care of my disable cousin who is really sick right now and might pass. There was 2 times where he almost did and the crosses hanging on the wall fell on the floor so hard they broke right in half. I always get chills and see shadows and fast flashes of lights. I always feel like someone is watching me and I turn around or look around the house and noone is there. How are you:) Can I please ask for some advise. I have a17 year old daughter, who believes she could be a medium, but not sure. My whole family has gifts of some kind, some more than others. But she can see thos who have passed, not all of them, but parts of them. And symbols…. she doesnt know what it means or what to do about/with it. Also…. where can I get sage to burn, I would love to cleanse our home. There are times I feel a LOT of negative energy, and I pray. But sometimes it takes a long time for them to leave, and it scares my son. Once I was a dark shadow figure walk across my livingroom, and it was shortly after I brough a new cross into the house. I am a 20 year old girl who has a lot of issues with death in my life. In the last 5 months, I have lost 2 friends to suicide and my grandfather to a 2year long fight with stage four lung cancer very suddenly. Not only that but I have also lost 5 other people to death since I was 7. I was in a major depression and could never be happy, but I have always felt like I have a guardian angel. I would like to know who is looking over me and protecting me. If it weren’t for whoever is watching me, I would probably be dead myself.

I watch your show faithfully and have no doubt that you are real. I suffer from many physical things which make my life very small when it comes to getting around. I lost my husband many years ago and I have to tell you that the hole his passing has not closed. I also know that you are a very busy person and have to budget your time for your business and family. I really don’t know what to do to close the hole that losing him created in me. I am having a hard time just living and trying to get on with my life but I find this impossible. If you could email me or find your way to see me it would be a miracle.
