Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

31 years ago I lost the love of my life. Im happily married 22 years to a wonderful Christian man. I was pregnant with my son from a previous marriage advised not to go to his funeral. My mother passed 3 years ago. Some time after her passing I found your show. She liked John Edwards. He was ok for me. However you are the one for me ! Your glow, love and strength is very powerful. In so many ways you remind me of my mother. Every time I see you I think of her. You two would of been great friends in real life. Your like twins! I never had a dad really. I had a super mom and it was devastating to me to see her go. No one really knows I held moms hand the night she passed. I told her I loved her and I wish it was me. I told her to go in the light. I know i shouldnt be on here, but I’m 15. My dad lost his dad 2 years ago, and he’s never really recovered from it. I told him, “wouldn’t you wanna be able to contact him? And ask how’s doing?”. He doesn’t believe in stuff like this.. Makes me sad, becuz, I can sense when bad things happen. Please lemme know If our able to change his mind.

I have had 4 pass within 4 years. I was very close to some of them but took care of 3 of them thru their illnesses. I miss them and need to come to peace with them. Well it would mean the world to me if you would be able to do a private reading for my boyfriend because about 5-6 years ago he was in a terrible accident and his best friend which was like his brother passed away instantly. My boyfriend, Chris, lost control of the car and they wrapped around a tree from the passenger side where his friend was. Well since then, he’s turned to drinking and drugs. he takes antidepresents, but it really doesnt help. He just cant get over the loss of his dad. I would love to help him. If he could know that his dad is ok and that he is with him, It would change his life.

Hi there my name is Elizabeth and I lost both of my parents and miss them so so much. They both past so quickly and unexpect that I would like to know how are they doing. Are they together in heaven. It would be great to know what really happen to my dad in Puerto Rico when he past. Was not able to say good-bye to him it has been the biggest pain in my heart for many years.
