Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I lost my mom and dad then my husband. I relate to the lost you talk about. I have seen and felt him here in our house. I want to move on but i feel that i have let him down. How do i let go i do need to know he is with his mom and dad and hope mine also.and is doing ok. I hurt so much i dont know where to turn any more i do need help. I don’t know how you would even read me. I have lost so many people in my life (47). Lost my husband at 35 and our son had just turned 11, 5 day’s prior. I feel he lost all his self confidance that day and has never been the same, but neither have I. I still suffer from depression and ADD. To top that my son is now 24 married and would do anything for his wife. She on the other hand has had a strange upbringing, and I beleive she is very jelous of me which I don’t understand. She use’s her children as weapons, I don’t get to see them when she get’s mad at me. They are very special to me almost like there part of my husband? I love them like there my own, also jelous of that. I beleive every child should be able to have a special relationship with grandparent’s. My mother and i had a rough relationship, but she was a wonderful grandmother and I never took that away from My son. How do we make this right? If I can ever afford it I will have a reading.

Hello I watch your show.I can say that it blows my mind.I can give you a sad story,but I can say that I lost my mom and dad when I was younger.My mom lost her life to a heart problem,and my dad for some reason took his own life.I cant began to understand why he would leave 10 childern to grow up so fast.I was only 12.There is not a day that goes by that I say to the air why did you leave so soon.My kids will never get to see him.Its just not far.We didnt ever get to say good-bye or I love you for one last time.If he just had passed from something like cancer i think i would be ok.But he put a gun to his head and didnt even think twice or he would still be alive.Please help me understand so i can move on.I just want to know why?
How come Theresa isnt helping in the Missing Children? Cant she read their parents of these missing kids and if so then maybe the parents can find their kids if they are dead? Iam surprised i havent seen her helping the cops or authorities on her show yet! Hmmm

I just want you to know how much I love watching you and your family. I finally got my husband to watch the show and he surprisingly loved it. Some are paid actors others are not but they edit it to show her spot on. Do you think TLC will make any money off her show if she was ever wrong? I was wondering if you have plans to come to Canada in the future. I know you are booked for the next year but maybe if you came I would love you to come by and see me and my husband. Let me know the cost so we can start saving. We have lost so many people lately.

Hi, My name is Steve, one of my friends tod me to watch your show, so i did. You seem like a very nice woman, i do think you have a talent. Here’s my story. My wife just lost her Aunt in 2007 and lost her grandpa in 2011 and grandma about a week later, Her grandmother was her bestfriend, my wife used to be carefree, happy and never in a bad mood. we have been married 3 years now but have been together for 14. After the 3 family members passed all of cancer my wife has never been the same. She used to be up on her health. Now we see a doctor almost every week because now my wife thinks every week she is dying of cancer. I love my wife so much and i dont know how to help her. I do believe if you could come all the way here and give my wife a reading and hopefully her grandma could come through, i think my wife just needs to hear from somone that her grandma is ok. I think she could better cope with her life and begin to enjoy her young life again. Anything, even an email would help.

my wife lost her father when she was 12 years old and she is so protective of her kids and it has caused problems to her oldest but i always believed her upbringing is a cause of there problems shes native and lives on a indian reservation in south dakota. please think about giving my wife reading.

Hi my name is jakki. I have watched your show only a few times but my mom watches your show all the time.You may hear this a lot but my mom has gone through so much! She lost so many people in her life and she is only 33. She lost her mother when she was 13 and then lost her grandmother a little later after that. She then worked in a hospice,which probally was not the best place for her. She would get close to the people she took care of and then they would pass. We just recently lost my uncle, her brother. He was her best friend. He was the only person she would tell everything to. He got very sick and we had to slowly watch him die. She didn’t sleep the whole time he was in the hospital and for weeks after he died. It has been almost 2years since then and she still Will stop and start crying. I KNOW that this is a lot to ask for but she would really appriciate if you would talk to her. We live in Iowa and you are coming to des Moines soon. I understand if you don’t but it would mean the world to me!!!!
Dear Thersa I’m writing you because i’m a single parent of two you men and they have lost two important people in there lives. K, 20 lost his aunt when he was 11 and he still struggles with it daily. He often calls crying becasue he would like to speak with her. They were extremely close. She was like a mother to him. My oldest son R, 28 lost his grandmother 5 yrs ago. This woman meant a lot to so many because thought she had only one child she raised 10 other children that were not hers. He would like to know that she is ok and that she is watching over him as everyone has told him.
I would be forever be in your debt if you could assist my boys will finding closure with the death of these wonderful humans that has left such a empression on them.
My boys mean the world to me and i would do anything to bring them comfort. My heart hurt because i can fix this for them.

My grandmal has lost her husband. He past on Jan. 17 2010. For the past to years she has felt empty and like she is alone. I think if she knows that he is at peace and knows how much she loves and misses him. She will also be at pease with his loss. If you could please get back to me I would greatly appreciate it.
