Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Peacefullness and love is how you make us feel when we watch your program. We just started to watch it, and my Husband is not so open to these kinds of shows, but is a firm believer in the happenings or signs given from the other side, as we receive what we believe are signs from our Son, I guess we all just want it said by an outsider, someone to confirm these happenings are for real, not just what we want them to be, you know? My Husband truly needs, I’m not sure how to say this, help, for his mind is so hard to live with in our loss. I am still pretending, yet believing he’s with all our loved ones and a very close relative. My Husband has incredible dreams of my Son, and tells them to me. Me and my Son use to analyse our dreams from my dream book, all the time, but he won’t come to me, only Husband. I pray for some answers, we try to help others when we can, I feel so lost yet go on each day knowing he’s close in the spirit way. Hi Theresa, my name is Carrie Wright and I lost my only son Shane Wright Dec. 18, 2010. I lost my mother Dec. 10, 2009. It would have been my father 25 year Death anniversary date on Dec. 19, 2010 one day after my son’s death. I am having a hard time dealing with his death, I feel as is I am going crazy some days. My son was only 19 years old and he was a Mama’s boy, (like your son) I treated my son the same way I see you on the show treat yours. I have alot of unanswered questions? My mother passed away almost 16 yrs ago. We were starting our Christmas shopping and were in a store when she had a heart attach and fell to the floor. I knew CPR, but I forgot everything I knew. I have had this big pain of quilt on me ever since she passed. I fell I need closure, because I’m a shame to even visit her grave site. I fell I let her down. IVE SEEN A MEDIUM IN THE PAST AND WASNT IMPRESSED WITH HER. EVERYTIME I START TO THINK OF WHATS GOING ON WITH ME…I SEE YOU ON T.V. ITS CRAZY. I STARTED CATCHING ORBS ON CAMERA ALL THE TIME. EVERYONE THINKS IM NUTS. I STARTED LOOKING BACK AND FOUND MORE THROUGHOUT PICS IN THE PAST. UP TO 8 YEARS OLD. I RECENTLY COUGHT ONE WITH A FULL BODY AND ORBS ALL AROUND IT. THE PROBLEM IS I DONT KNOW WHO IT IS.I WANT TO KNOW WHO IT IS OR WHO THEY ARE, AND WHY THEY ARE AROUND ME SO MUCH. IVE ALWAYS LISTEN TO MY GUT.
