Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Her wait time is over two years at this point, due to the popularity of the show.
Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

hello Theresa i had a beloved aunt that lived in hicksville. her name was Annie Rodriguez she and my uncle quinten used to own a bakery in jerusalem ave they owned it for 30 years it was called Crown bakery, she lived for 35 years in 4 Hattie court on jerusalem ave she was loved by so many,(and adored by me her nehfew) a week after she died a white bird (dove) appeared in my apt where i lived on the 23rd floor. it came in through my kitchen window. my wife (felicia) saw when it first came in, we had just came home from our daily walk. she called out to me to come to the kitchen, as i enter the kitchen the bird came out from under the kitchen table. it stood in front of me looking up at me, at that point my wife said to me that she felt that that bird was sent from heaven by my lovely aunt Annie it came (from heaven)to assure me that she was with god. it was in my apt for about 45 minutes the bird did some amazing things while it was there,i would (if possible) would like to share my story with you (via telephone)i also took some picture’s of the bird, i would be more then happy to send it to you. god bless!

I do believe in God and in heaven and that our loved ones watch over us after they pass. My cousin suzanne and I have had many conversations about this. Her father and my father were brothers and have both since passed. If your ever in Illinois I would love for you to stop at my house or possibly get tickets to your show. hello Theresa my wife and i love your show. i do believes in the after life. Theresa i had an experience at my job with coins appearing in the lobby of my building where i work. it started happening to a doorman on his shift we all thought it was the other doorman that works with him that was playing a joke on him. to my surprise!! it happen the next day when i was in the lobby with them. i was talking to the doorman that we thought was playing the joke. when suddenly i heard a sound from behind me. the three of us started to walk towards where the sound came from and sure enough we found a dime under a chair that was next to the elevator. i picked it up a went to the front of the lobby with the other two doorman. about 15 minutes later it happen again we heard the sound (like a coin being thrown) and when i want to search for the coin i found another one (dime)in the same location! anyway in all we collected about 19 coins that night. there’s alot more to this story. god bless you and your family.

Hello Theresa, My family and i watch and love you and your family, (not sure how you keep up…) but you have a great family. I’m writing because I have a 10 year old son who is a very good boy, but he has a very odd way about him. He is homeschooled because he doesn’t like to be away from my mom or me, he claims that he sees people that have passed, he sometimes gives us messages from them. But he is afraid in his own home he won’t go to the restroom alone i was just wondering if there is anything you could maybe suggest to help us get him a more secure and normal life.

Do you and Larry want to come down to the Florida Keys for a weekend, do a little fishing with me and my husband on our boat and stay at our home? I am a detective who has been working a 40 year old disappearence case of a young girl from 1972. Her mother is 85 years old and is still paying her daughters life insurance policy. I would like to help her with closure on this case since I know that the last person seen with her will not talk to the police any longer. The most recent was my niece,she was only 39 it was horrible the way the Cancer destroyed her.I was by her side at the hospital when she passed.
