Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

Hi Mrs. Teresa. I lost a great-uncle in ’94, that was like a father to me. I was pregnant with my son in ’93 and he asked me about my son’s father, and his response to me was “Everything is going to be alright”. In 1997, I went to the hospital to get a check-up and slipped into a coma for 3 days. Within those 3 days, he came to me in a vision and said, “Everything is going to be alright.” Ever since then, I have been getting visions, warning, and dreams that something is coming or going to happen. In November last year, I woke up at 5:26 am and my cell phone lit up by itself and something said to me, “In February, they will die.” I didn’t know who it was for but on February 15th, my uncle was killed in a car accident, 6 days later, my cousin dropped dead from a heart attack, that same night, another cousin died. This was the second time that this had happened. In 2004, 5 people from my church died with in days. When the first 3 people died, I heard something say, “It’s not over.” I called my pastor and told her because I thought I should let someone to know and pray with me and also wanted someone to know that I wasn’t crazy. 3 days later, another one died, two days after that, the 5th one was gone. This is really scary for me sometimes. Can you tell me what is really going on with me? If these are spirits, are they friendly or should I really be afraid?

I’m in the eight grade. I’ve lost a lot of family very close to me an aunt, cousin, grandmother, and grandpa. Since my grandma died my life has changed drastically. I miss her so much and badly need closure. I know she is still with me and watching over me, but I feel guilty for not spending the time she had with her…I’m begging you for your help.
