Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC’s series Long Island Medium, says she was 28 when she was first introduced to the possibility that she was a medium. It took another five years for her to actually accept her gift.
“There’s a big difference from when I accepted it to who am I?” Caputo told us. She said she struggled with feeling, “I’m no different than anybody else. Why was I chosen to do this? Why is this my journey?”
The aftermath of 9/11 left her with clarity and a feeling of purpose for what she calls her role in the physical world. Now Caputo spends her days and nights taking her clients on an emotional and spiritual journey with the afterlife. She helps people find closure and/or reconnect some with loved ones who have passed.

Surprisingly, Caputo has built her career on word of mouth only and has done little to no marketing. When asked if she’s ready for what a TV series will bring as far as popularity, Caputo says: “Absolutely not. I still think this is like a school project. It’s so not reality yet for me. My life is overwhelming as it is, as of right now, my waiting list to get an appointment is… I don’t have any availability until January 2013.”

I was born an orphan. Later I was adopted. However, later, they had their own child. (Well kinda…..I question???) But, after, I was totally unaccepted as their family. My name is Jennifer and I’m from Durham North Carolina. A little over 3 years ago my Nana {grandma} past away from natural causes. I took care of her for the last 3 years of her life. Ever since then me, my mom and my 3 aunts have had a really hard time. She was the glue that held our family together. My Nana past away on the birthday of 1 of my aunts she has never gotten over that. One of them sits in the living room and talks to her ashes everyday. One has shut down to the rest of the family and my mom has tried to move forward but I don’t think she knows how with out holding on to tight. Myself –I went to a really bad place and I’m still trying to get out of it–day by day. I would do just about anything for you to come read for them —ANYTHING— I truly think it would help all of us. My nana was the most loving and caring friend, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. I do have to tell you 1 story that gives me chills whenever I think or tell it. The last Christmas my nana was with us she was received a Christmas flower when my nana past away all of the leaves and blooms fell off the plant. My aunt tried for 2 years to get the plant to bloom and it never did. My 16 year old daughter got pregnant well the day my 1st grand son was born the plant bloomed. So I like to think it was my nana but I would LOVE to know for sure. She became SOOOOO much more than my NANA she was and will always be my BEST FRIEND.

I was wondering if you could shed some light on something that has been a question in my life. A past life perhaps? I, as all kids, wanted to be a cowgirl when I grew up. Since then, I have realized, that there is no money in sod busting. When all of us city girls decided to go horseback riding one day, they all were commenting, on how the horse farm smelled. I however, took a deep breath, and felt as though I was home. I was also quite comfortable in the saddle. The equipment broke, I fell off the horse to the left and my knee slammed into the knot in the cinch. I was at that point, laying horizontal at the horses side. I got myself back into the saddle and stood up into the stirrups, leaning over the horses neck grabbed his bridle, and brought him to a stop before hitting a highway. Later in life, I found myself, searching the faces of anyone from, the civil war era. Men in particular. Especially, the faces of the dead, at Gettysburg. I thought I was being morbid, and not happy about doing something like that. I also have this thing with today’s servicemen. I want them to be safe and protected, and if you ask my husband, only I can keep them safe. My question to you is, do you think, that these things could have anything to do with a previous life? I figured I would ask you, as you would not think I would be, well; nuts. If you think this could be a past life details, surfacing, could you recommend how I might go about finding out more about it? I saw on your show where you were regressed, but I would not know where to start.

I know this will seem strange to ask but I’m a believer In receiving signs. A few weeks I had a dream where I was compelled to contact you and was told to by my grand mother. In my life I use to be able to talk to spirit but I have realized that my own gift has changed to where I can’t talk to them. The way I use to. I lost my mom on 5/14/10 and to this day i just cant seem to get over it. I have woke up some days and just wish i could just go and b with her , wanting to end my own life. I quess what really hurts me is just not getting to say so many things to her i have wanted to say thinking i would have plenty of time too. I have had a few sad things happen to me since and always fine my self talking to her. but never feel better about it, i wish i could just meet you just once to see if you can let me know does she see what is going on with me in life now.
